hi guys
i took my spark out for a flight today in my yard(flew it here about 5 or 6 times) and after the first battery died i put in a fresh one and the spark did some wierd things. the first few minutes were fine but than it just started doing 360 turns in mid air and flying away from me, it also crashed down to the ground and than took off again straight up doing 360's. the only warning i was getting is wind velocity but i would say this was a small breeze, flew it in heavy winds before and at 50 meters high no issues. the spark than gave a warning "command failed" and although it was flying over 20 or odd meters high it showed an altitude an negative 15 meters???? i was about 20 meters away from the drone line of sight using the RC connected to an iphone 8 with the latest software on both the phone and drone. i would like to upload the flight log here but not sure how to do that so some advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, sir. We would not recommend users fly in high wind environment for better flight performance. After the crash, any error message from the app? Please fly your spark in recommended environment and update the situation here.

Also, it appears that this is the first flight for the battery, is that correct?

At take off it was only charged to 70%, has this come straight out of the box?

Thank you for the logs and the video.

To be honest, I am stumped. This is definitely a case for the engineers! The black box data may show more.
Or one of the more experienced guys here can pick up on something that I can't.

Only 1 note that I have, what is your battery alerts set to?

Best of luck, please keep us up to date with what DJI engineers respond with!!

Looking at the logs and the video, from my uneducated opinion, the behavior seems consistent with the Spark struggling against a very strong wind.  In the logs, we can see that the aircraft is pitched at a fairly steep angle 30-37 degrees and yet it is not moving at all (0 mph).  You can see this on lines 3308-3314 of the log file while the aircraft is in GoHome mode.  To me this indicates it was trying to buck a wind that was at least 22mph.  Similar type of behavior can be seen all along the log file showing that the aircraft is pitched at a steep angle, but not moving hardly at all.  Normally, I would expect if the aircraft were pitched at such a steep angle for long periods of time, it would be moving at a very fast rate if there were no winds.

Also, looking at the location of your flight, it looks like you may have been flying across a little bit of a valley.  If that is the case, then it is very possible for the negative altitude numbers.  The starting location of your flight is the base level (i.e. 0 meters).  If the landing spot was lower than the takeoff location, then the negative numbers are what would be expected.

Weather for the general area shows that the max wind speed for the day was 16mph.  https://www.wunderground.com/his ... name=South%20Africa

Localized wind speeds could be even faster than recorded for the area based on geographic features.

The above are based solely on this uneducated, non-expert interpreted from the provided log files.  If you see something different in the logs I'm misinterpreting or haven't taken into account, I would be interested to see so I can learn more.  Also,  I obviously wasn't there, so hard for me to compare my observations to real life.

hi, there are no valleys by me that i flew over. i was flying over flat land. there was wind has i explained earlier but it was just a breeze with the wind hardly moving the trees by me. the drone flew well minutes earlier on one battery and went crazy on the second.

Hi Suren, looking at your logs as Kloo gee said when your aircraft went into RTH wind was your problem. Although Kloo mentions 22mph the reality is you were within 100 metres of home so Aircraft speed is curtailed to 14mph and if wind for the day was 16mph then it is to strong to make any headway. Your Aircraft did go into auto landing and even then was loosing some ground from there it went into Forced Landing at .3 of a metre as it should do and the landed.
There is nothing peculiar about your flight , you could have canceled RTH and tried to fly back in sport mode .
You said you used a fresh battery but your log shows battery at 75%, the reason for negative altitude reading is due to homepoint being above the area you landed in.

Looking at your coordinates it shows the ground you flew over and it looks like there is a drop in the ground.
