I see a ton of Youtubers using their drone footage in their videos. A bunch of those videos are also monetized. I have done some checking, and the majority of them do not have a FAA 107 or an exemption.
If you intend on making a monetary gain in any way from using your drone, the FAA says you HAVE to have a license.
QUESTION: How do they get away with not having a license?

If you intend on making a monetary gain in any way from using your drone, the FAA says you HAVE to have a license.
Seems it's you saying the FAA says you HAVE to have a license to put videos on Youtube.
Can you point to anything to support your assertion?
Anywhere that the FAA says this?  Or is this just your interpretation?
There's a lot of good information on forums but there's a lot of misinformation too.
This is another common myth spread on forums.

Soooo...I'll bite...exactly how is this bothering you?
Is it that you perceive them getting away with something?
You are dismayed that they are making money?
Perhaps you are bothered by the fact that you had to get a license or thought you had too and these other people do not or did not?
Why would you expend such time and resources to track down these people?
What do you hope to cause by this effort?
In the simplest of terms what do you hope to get out of this?
Lastly, consider this, it is very possible to go out and as a hobby take pictures and video in a recreational manner.  Further, it is very reasonable to assume that dad or grandma or uncle George decides to share their media on their YouTube channel and even make money doing it...now granted, these would be criminals could be closet professionals out their making thousands of dollars showing off their Phantom video wares and as such they are circumventing the FAA rule set...if so they should be drawn and quartered and then hung to dry...mostly for being so entrepreneurial and American...such dastardly people.

With all that in mind...you go ahead and root out this un-American activity and bring these harden criminals to justice for Truth, Justice, and the American Way!
Me?  I'm gonna stick to watching out for international terrorists, nukes from Korea, security of our energy supply, stability of the economy, Russian hacking, China hacking, etc. etc. etc.

I've got limited brain bytes left and little time for such weighty matters...
My motto as a commander and leader was, don't bring me problems, bring me solutions...while now I'm neither here, the concept still applies.  I guess I could have said, would you like some cheese with that whine, and left it at that, but I was trying to be nice

True. Apparently b/c of the sheer number of them, probably almost impossible to police.

The FAA has no interest in policing what you put on Youtube.
Their interest is aviation safety.
The commonly posted myth that putting aerial videos on Youtube = commercial flight comes from back in  March 2015 when one FAA official overstepped his authority.
The FAA clarified the situation soon after.

WHAT - a government official overstepping their authority!  I'm shocked!

It does put a different spin on it, and forces the problem bringer to possibly solve their own problem before you even hear about but at least you know they tried...

Exactly. The approach works well with my team of employees and they appreciate that it empowers them to practice good problem-solving skills.

I think it's useful however in a lot of other areas of life.
