Well, I did play with it briefly. Never took off from my coffee table, but I did compare with and without the OTG cable. Without, it everything appears normal and works the way I would expect.
However, with the OTG cable attached, I got different results with 4.1.18 and 4.1.20:
WIth 4.1.18, the settings for the two programmable buttons are "forgotten" (not defined) and have to be re-established each time I start the hookup. Max Flight Altitude is 50 M
WIth 4.1.20, the buttons are retained, but I get a constant "Weak Image Transmission Signal" warning even though the picture looks fine. Not sure if that is referring to the signal from the Spark or the controller. Also, the Max Altitude is also limited to 50 M. (I can change it to 120, but it goes back to 50M)
Latency with both versions is about the same wi-fi to OTG.
So, in keeping with their claim that the OTG interface is not supported or implemented, it is still changing. Since I notice no difference, I am sticking with Wi-Fi. It does not change the flight range, since we are talking about a few inches between the iPhone/iPad and not the distance between the controller and the Spark.
This is not a thorough analysis and I never did fly the Spark. Just "desk checked" the app. |
