One thing that I have been struggling with is being able to see what is on my screen because of the glare. I have purchased a shade for my smart phone, but to be honest, it just doesn’t work that well.  I often wind up sitting under the hatch of my car trying to see what I’m looking at through the camera.  So today I get the big idea to carry a towel with me and drape it over my head and my controller.  It worked really well, no glair, and I could see much better detail of what I was trying to shoot.  Only problem now is that I look real stupid standing there with a towel over my head.

There are matt overlays you can apply on to the screen.

Do you have experience with them on how well they work?  I'm assuming you would use them along with a sunshade for best results.

Ha!  I think I would rather have a beanie propeller hat to channel my inner quad copter.

Thanks Gerry for the suggestion.  I'll see if I can locate one for my phone or ipad mini.

I made one for my phone Galaxy Mega 6.3 and It dont work worth a crap either. Maybie I need to make it over 6 inches deep on all sides, then it would make it very hard to use the settings on the screen. Im thinking of trying a Kindle fire  HD and see if I can get that to work better. I heard those can be read in direct sunlight.

To my amazement in my tablet I ran the screen brightness all the way up and behold, I could see much better. It cut the battery life down some but was worth seeing... Don't know if you tried that or not but I was surprised at how bright my see became.

Actually David that would be very effective. Since most glare is from the screen mirror-reflection of one's head and face, i prefer to have my upper body in the shade. This proves to me way more effective than the sun shade i have. Now i stand under an umbrella w/ my iPad mini whenever possible. think i'll look for your hat!
