Hi.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Right lets cut to the chase we all realise OTG is not currently supported however I am after working options to be able to fly my Spark using OTG cable from android phone to controller and just wondering if anyone has had any success in using the OTG cable and if so what cable are you using and did you have to roll back the software?
I have a Samsung A5 and a TabS3 that are both running the DJI app and can connect via wi-fi and the tab s3 does getting better reception and clarity of picture however both have lag...annoyingly so!
What success are pilots having out there and are there any specific brands of cables that appear to be working more than others?
Oh and just to make it more fun I am limited to suppliers who support New Zealand so that narrows the field and the Tab S3 is a c-type USB!

Happy flying...possibly :-)

Thanks for that @dansmar it will certainly point me in the correct direction now to find a supplier that ships to New Zealand, always a challenge.

Much appreciated.

Or you could wait for DJI to release the cable/FW:
(from the CrystalSky mounting braket page) https://store.dji.com/product/cr ... rc-mounting-bracket

A USB OTG cable is required when connecting to a Spark remote controller.
A function allowing users to connect Spark's remote controller to CrystalSky monitors and other mobile devices with a USB OTG cable is coming soon.

I haven't noticed that before. This is the first time I see a reference to the OTG issue in an official DJI publication.

Now that's interesting and pricey as well.
Will keep an eye out for official merchandise however until then will try suggested solutions.

Thanks

I have purchased my first OTG cable directly from DJI store together with my Spark back in July and got both delivered on 1 August.

1 way to tell would be to turn off the WIFI on your phone/tablet

So just to update on my original post here as I was getting heaps of lag on both the phone and tablet.
After supplier replaced drone at their cost, DJI wanted it sent back for investigation, the lag has disappeared and all is well with the drone!

Has been for a couple of flights and the quality of camera shot and stability is far far better than before.

Guess it must have been a faulty unit?

Cheers

Check out this video.  Go to the 7:00 minute mark and you'll see where he connects the OTG Cable.  You should get a pop-up on the screen when you have a good connection (and you should hear a beep).  Sometimes you have to disconnect/reconnect the cable to get a good connection.  Just a heads up.

Two things...If the connection is GOOD you can turn off wifi and you'll still see the VIdeo transmitting from the SPARK.  If the connection was not made properly you'll loose any video feed.  Also, not all OTG Cables seem to work so you have to make sure you get one that's been verified as working for the DJI Spark.   Hope this helps....

for fear of asking a dumb question.... does the spark perform better on the older version dji go app with the otg cable than it does on the new version without it supported? I am coming to android from ios and am curious before I start flying with the new phone.

Actually OTG is not required at all for Android devices.  The V4.1.22 works well with SPARK Fw 0.900 upto distances of 1.5 KM
I use a Samsung Note 5 and a OPPO mobile

this video is misleading .  This is dated in July 2017 which is not the case anymore with the current versions.

hi. I've just both my spark few days ago so wasn't able to fly it yet but I've managed to connect my phone (galaxy S8) via OTG cable to controller without any issues and I'm using DJI Go v4.1.22. Just because it says connected can I assume that it will fly without any issues? Most of you guys say that OTG is not supported in 4.1.22 version. If not supported, does it mean that it does not connects at all or connects but with flying issues? Thanx

The main problem is that the newest versions of DJI GO 4 don't show the crucial flight data like remaining battery, drone speed, height, distance .... It works fine via WiFi though. I don't know whether there are some other issues because this is reason enough for me to stick with an older version of DJI GO 4 (4.1.15 and lower) that works fine with an OTG cable. You can read about it in other posts about OTG as there are literally dozens of them by now ....
