I remember reading about how you can set up the Huawei as self booting (Modem mode) so that it is immediately recognised by the android OS as a modem instead of usb storage but I can't find the web page anymore

Hi !
Don't you mean when you disable SIM pin it automaticly connects to the 4G Network?
It does with PC, but I still have to select the network through my computer...

Mindy? Mindyyyyy ?? we miss you a lot !! =) hope everything is fine ! Here, the 4G Dongle USB Feature for Crystalsky still doesn t work ! even using the device you told me to buy !

No, it's some other mode I read about, that lets  you plug and play the Huawei without an app or widget

Hello, i just gave a try with my CS (02.06.03.00) and had it working right away.
I'm using a rooted CS with Google Gapps enabled.
The dongle is Huawei with a French network operator
Yes, Wifi is disabled... so i'm sure the internet comes from the dongle.
I hooked the dongle, waited for a few seconds, went to settings / Wireless & Networks / More / Cellular Networks / Network operators / Choose automatically
I got a success registering to ntwork message and that's all...

hi !

Thanks for help.
Do you use 3G or 4G? Which exact model of dongle do you use?
I've tried your process but in cellular network settings, everythink is grised.

What do you mean by CS rooted with google Gapps enabled?
thanks

It a Huawei with USB identification usb vendorid:productid = 12d1:1506 (it's E398 model if I remember correctly) 3G only. I'll try a 4G if I can catch one.

Rooting the device and flashing gapps is explained here with details and I guess easy to follow steps :

https://github.com/Opcodeffm/csroot
https://dji.retroroms.info/howto/crystalsky

Rooting means to get an administrator account to the device
Gapps is basically the Google Play / Google Services that allows you to go to the playstore and link your account.

All this will probably make you loose the warranty on your tablet, but at least it makes life much easier and this stuff usable !

With latest version of Google Play service, you may have an additional step (not yet in the Wiki) After installing, you may have to visit : https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/
to be able to link the device to your account

You'll need a code that you can get with the command line given on the above link though adb, basically a command line tool to access the underlying linux system on an android device, and get the requiered unique id of your machine.

pictures of the setup with Nova Launcher installed instead of this infamous DJI Launcher...

Do you still have access to DJI Pilot app with a rooted CS?

on step you can try first (just in cas) is to activate developper settings on your tablet :
go to settigns, about device and then tap 7 or 8 times on the build number info.
This does not require root or anything else... just to see if it "ungray" the mobile network settings that would let you use your dongle.

It doesn't ungray unfortunatly.
Anyway, I would like to know if you feel your CS UB warmer or cooler or same? than before rooting operation?

I think it's a little cooler... I disabled a few services, and tuned a few stuff. I never had the "too hot" warning, but I also never used it with very warm outside temps.

Still the fans are turning on a little too often to my taste.

Getting closer, try installing the "google now launcher" from apk pure.

I can now use this as the app launcher page instead of the DJI launcher page.

Thanks so much !!!

Being the fact that you mentioned about Android 5.1, you think for this expensive piece of equipment they would have installed a more up to date version and also a complete version instead of their modified version. Probably has something to do about paying for software licensing and taking the cheap way out to maximize profit margins.

Hi, currently, only two 4G dongles have been fully tested, that is MS-2131i-8(3G global)and 2372h-153(4G Russia/Europe/The Middle East/Africa).
We do not recommend other dongles without test, thanks for the understanding.

Hi !

Today we are in 2025, phantom 17's just been released with crystalsky 5, but we re still waiting the promised "4G USB Dongle"    I begin very old, I hope DJI ll release this feature before my death...

Well you can add this one to the compatible ones on the Crystalsky The Nighthawk® LTE Mobile Hotspot from Netgear on AT&T Just get a long USB-C Cable to tether with, then plug it in before booting and it works great! You can also set the Hotspot to turn off its wifi while on tether and turn off the wifi on the CrystalSky to cut down on all the extra wifi interference.

Hi DJI Mindy,
I didn't find any information about " 2372h-153".
Could you give me more information: brand, dealer, etc. ?

"just use smartphone to connect to Internet"

My crystalsky monitor doesn't see my Huawei P20 pro hotspot.  I've use it for many other devices. I'm in Europe and I really need an internet connection for the crystalsky.
I'm using DJI Pilot app for my M200 drone.

What should I do?

DJI please help.

Ps. I set up the hot-spot connection manually without the device recognising my phone. It does see lots of other connections including my home wlan.

Hi everyone....  I just bought a crystal sky and can't load any maps while on location.  I have a Huawei 20 pro which works as a hotspot for absolutely every device except the CS.
So like an idiot I bought a USB wifi dongle to plug into my CS instead. Of course it doesn't work either.
Just read all the posts and I can't believe this problem hasn't been solved by DJI.   I heard how much better the CS was over a smartphone, but to know that it runs on Android 5.1 is laughable.
Does anyone have a real solution to plug in a E3372 LTE USB stick????

curious to hear your replies!

With the supported models it should be as simplke as this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v2Eq3dzrd-oUnfortunately DJI never published the official list of supported USB dongles.

I bought this dongle from a Chinese site, and I can not use it.

The "recommended" model is Huawei 2372h-153. The Huawei models 3372-320 and 3372-153 a completely different devices (-XXX digits matter!).

I tested the Huawei E3372h-320 (HiLink, firmware version 10.0.3.1, H192SP2C983) 4G dongle. It perfectly works with my CrystalSky CS785 HB, even without reboot.
