So you have to login and connect to DJI servers everytime when using the Spark?
What if you go to a really scenic/remote area and there isn't any 3G/4G coverage - no fly?
If the app updates and before using it again, you go to some remote location without internet, you'll be grounded until you get internet and login. If you are a new customer or the app updates, and you don't have internet, or their servers go down, (which they do on most major holidays), then you are grounded. DJI must know who is flying the drone so they can monitor and report you if necessary. If you don't login you can't fly. Even though logging in has nothing to do with the physical ability of the drone to fly.
DJI is taking its problems (i.e. the FAA and inept drone pilots) and pushing those problems onto you, the customer by adding unnecessary restrictions (i.e. no-fly zones, forced autoland, forced login, altitude limits, etc.). Technically, you are better off having as many options as possible. DJI's log-in-or-you-can't-fly policy is just one of the many ways DJI is limiting your options, for their sole benefit. Do you really own your aircraft or does DJI own it? |
