Firmware update for the quad has failed.  It sounded as if all was going well, then I got the long tone.  The controller and batteries all updated fine but the I1 itself repeatedly sounds the long tone.  Tried restarting to initiate "auto repair", but immediately gives the tone.  Formatted the SD and re-installed the new FW, still get the long tone.  Any suggestions?

So, DJI support says I have to send in my aircraft to be repaired.  The damn thing worked just fine before the update.  Now I have to send it in and wait 4-6 weeks...at least.  Shouldn't they send me a replacement with a return box to send them their defective product back to them?  Anyway, for those of you who are looking for spares, I've got a gently used, non functional I1 with 6 batteries (4 TB47's and 2 TB48's), 3 chargers, 2 sets of the original props (one set still in the bag) 2 sets of prop locks, one set of quick release props (hardware installed), one transmitter, one camera with both filters, one harness and what ever else the I1 came with, and case.  Make me an offer if interested.  Will not split up.  All or nothing.

if you take the card out of cam and start everything up (pref. w/o props on) and run through some stick movements everything should be fine. I had same problem. After you get it going return card w/o firmware on it, should always remove firmware once it's updated. It should show that you are updated and everything should be working. Give it a try and don't give up yet lol

Same thing happened on the last update, I called DJI and they said it would have to be sent in, they did send me a call tag and shipping was free., this was on 3/6/15.  it arrived there ( DJI Repair Department in California )  on 3/13/15, and then sat there until 3/28/15. then they said that they received it.  on 3/30/15,  they checked it in, Great news on 4/13/15   this it what they did, We have replaced the camera/gimbal due to issues with firmware not fully updating.  My Inspire 1 is fixed.
     now this, Please note we do not know the shipping schedule, but you will receive an email with a tracking number once its ready to be shipped back to you.   My God DJI !   Hire some more people in shipping, its been 10 days and  not even clue when it will ship...   47 days without my bird and counting, because of an update problem, what is going to happen on the next update?

Yea, that's crap.  These people need to get their shit together.  If you're going to put a high end price tag on a piece of equipment that's not high end, at least step up the customer service.  And yes, I'm frustrated and this is the only issue I've had, but damn!  When THEY issue FW updates, and it works on some but not on others.....it's just frustrating.

Once again, I repeat, DJI, modify the updating system for the Inspire. The system as per the phantoms works!!

Are you using a thumb drive to update the controller or going via the micro sd?

It was a thought. I have never had a problem. I use the sd for the Inspire itself and a thumb drive for the controller. I use them clean meaning new as they are very inexpensive. Another interesting thing is that I do not format them. Another thing that I picked up from the forum is to only use the "Bin" File. Discard the the text file. I don't do it but, it has been suggested here that you leave the file on the card and not remove it. Once I do the update I format a clean card and put it in the camera. I am not stating this is definitely the cure to your issue and frustration but, don't give up, you will get it in the end. Did you check Dundee's update flow chart ? Also hit Youtube, you will find tutorials there. That is where I found the way that I do it. When I did mine for the first time everything stopped after a few minutes. I powered down the Quad and Controller, did not remove anything and then rebooted both, doing the Controller first and everything resumed and finished without any issues at all.

DJI fw upgrade is SHIT - mine got bricked with 2.0.17 Never even got it to fly once! Now I have 4000 in paperweight until I can take it somewhere to get fixed. I am not in the States so I can't send it to DJI    It's even worse: I lost an Octocopter because of a faulty Wookong M flight controller - so I should have learnt the lesson. So overall, I have lost over 10k with this crappy company. I am looking for a new provider... 3DR?

I had an issue with the bin file still on the sd card. The Inspire and controller would not link. As soon as I took the sd card out of the camera they linked straight away.

Ahhh finally good news,  just received shipping notice, it was just shipped today!   I should have it back in a week,    next update, who knows what will happen...

So, it's the camera and gimbal that is the issue?

   Yes, that was the problem with mine, would not update, I tried everything, Dundees chart, reloaded many times, then I called DJI and they said that I would have to send it in.

FW made craft unusable and I still wasn't able to get RMA since March.

Had endless testing with high speed microSD and camera/gimbal swap with closest location being 250 km away only for diagnostic, department after department... my craft legs are lifted down and I can't fit the thing in the original case. I had agent on phone say that the North America support does not cover Canada and that I would have to ship it to DJI China, and their support which made me go through the whole diagnostic process again sent me back to previous department.

I am also having software/hardware problem with camera (non-marker stripes on overexposed areas) from Day 1 with no refund possibility because of late report (iOS app was not even released before February). Wouldn't any single department follow the case for me and not make me go through the same endless tone result again with minimum service?

I met a problem during upgrade of my inspire 1 with the new firmware 1.2.1.
When I done the aircraft upgrade, after 5 or 6 min, aircraft, beep D--DD. Normaly, that mean, the upgrade is sucessfull.
But when I read the txt file into SD card, it's just write "upgrading" but not "sucess".


But I continue, and i upgrade the 2 RC. No problem, txt file "sucess".
I upgrade too the dji App.

But now, my problem is when I turn on the aircraft and RC, on DJI App, it's write I have a problem with firmware and i had to do the aircraft upgrade.
I tried severals times to upgrade, but it don't want anymore.
In more, I can't see video picture. When the camera is plug, it write me "no signal" on app dji. But when camera unplug, all feel good. I think I will fix a go pro on my inspire:@
