if you have the time... And want to save the money...

This is the competition:

Not bad... Some of my gripes with this one are:
1. The price (not bad) but definitely not cheap.
2. The weight. At 391grams is not the lightest.

I do own this one... And like it.. It is a bit flimsy and heavy, but it is thin and nice materials. So instead of using the $40.00 day after day.. I wanted a "cheaper everyday beater"... So Here is the one I built. I wanted to share it... Maybe you would like to make yourself one.

1. The price? About $12.00 USD. All you need is foam board, peel and stick felt, sticky foam sheet, and duck tape.
2. The weight? 183g.. Probably could have been less if I didnt added some of the sticky foam... But hey it looks better and it protects the outside,

Here are some pictures and videos.... If you guys are interested and let me know I will write a quick how to... Otherwise you can just use the pics as reference

I do like the looks of the one I did... I personally like the more expensive one better, but the DIY is not bad at all for 12 bucks... Plus it is much lighter, and sturdier and it actually has more shade as the area is larger and longer.. The one I did has this "film crew" look to it..IMO... A bit more "industrial"....

I learned a bit while making this one so If people are interested I can make a short "how to" with the updated learned Ideas.

I'm definitely interested in a how-to if you don't mind. I've been looking at purchasing a sunshade but the weight complaints I've been hearing have me concerned.  Thanks in advance for the tutorial!

I have the Summitlink shade...... didn't pay $40 for it.  It was more like $27 on Ebay, Ebay link .... It is a little flimsy.  Especially when you are in some moderate wind.  As far as the weight, I don't really notice, since I use the DJI overly complicated (as I've heard some say) harness.  {:3_53:}

The problem I face is that my iPad mini is in its own Tech21 case and I don't want to have to remove it from its case to be able to use a sun shade.
This is the best shade I have seen on the internet, but can't be used if your iPad is in a case.  Looks really robust.

Genettico,
I just discovered your post of this really neat looking shade.  While I can probably figure out to duplicate it, I'm wondering if you ever wrote up the "how to" directions?
Thanks
