What's the consensus on firmware 01.05.0300? Is the craft stable? What other issues have been reported? There doesn't appear to be many major faults so far but having been caught out on the Phantom 4 failware v02.00.0106, I'm reluctant to upgrade since there's been no fix for over 6 months and it grounded my P4 for months as DJI support languished.

Are there any other issues people have come across? I think I'll wait a few weeks until all the issues come to the fore but just wondering how everyone's upgrade has gone. I'm currently on 01.03.0509.


Edit: It appears that on top of the inverted images and sepia effect on RAW images, that some users are reporting their P4P's are losing signal, turning into flying rocks and falling out of the sky on the new 0300 firmware:

Thanks for chiming in... Yeh, I'm in the same boat I think. I'll monitor the forums and see what issues blow up. Having been caught out before by dodgy firmware from DJI this is definitely the wisest option

Just been flying with my P4P on the new firmware, and DJI GO 4.1.20 (iOS). I'd read about some issues with RTH not working properly, but I didn't have any issues with that other than it was about 1/2 metre off (and Precision Landing stopped it as it thought the landing site had changed).  But it was a windy day, so that may explain the issue.

Sadly, I didn't try taking any video or photos as I wanted to test flight out. Now that I've read the report I'll try that next time.

And I installed the firmware twice, with a factory reset in between. A double installation is required by DUMLd@re so that's what I do now with Assistant too.

When I put the gimbal at 180° (looking toward the ground), the back video on my  crystal sky suddenly reverse upside-down !
If I back up a little bit the gimbal, it becomes normal again.

I've got also a color issu on pictures shooted like that. They are totally orange (raw files with white balance set to sunny)
We cans see two large bands across the image
This problem don't occurred with  the gimbal at 0°.

Yeh, this sounds like the issue I was referring to in my OP with a link to the phantompilots thread.

Are you able to explain this issue in more detail? It's quite hard to understand what the actual issue is without seeing it myself and I'm reluctant to upgrade for obvious reasons... I guess we'll find more issues over the next few days as you 'beta testers' continue to upgrade.

I made the rookie mistake of updating the firmware as soon as it got out, terrible mistake. Photos are getting flipped, yesterday I got an ultrasonic error on my P4P and later after restarting, the drone just fell off from the sky at a height of 1.3m! Had to send it in for repair today. On the positive side I noticed that I was getting better range.

There's a reason why seasoned DJI users don't upgrade for a few weeks after a firmware is released. It appears that every firmware is actually failware these days from DJI. I honestly wonder if they do any testing at all. Take a look at the last firmware release on the P4 - it was released 6 months ago and nearly everyone who upgraded suffered major flight and camera issues. My P4 has been grounded for 6 months. I'm still running the original firmware that came on my P4P v503 because all firmwares released after this have been littered with major issues.

I am still hanging on at 01.04.0602

How to downgrade the firmware ?

Well crap, i have that same issue too, wonder if DJI will fix this issue ASAP

They might fix it in 6-12 months? That's the usual timeframe these days with DJI on fixing failware.

Sorry to hear all of he issues.  I was hoping that they would have fixed a couple things with this release.  But it sounds like they really have a bad one here.  Broke more than they fixed.  Being -20F here this morning, my P4P is going to stay in hibernation for the foreseeable future.  It will be interesting to see what DJI does about this one.  I don't think waiting 6 months is an option.

I have been running version 01.04.0602 for several months with only minor irritations.  None of this "falling out of the sky" stuff.  I will most definitely be staying put for time being.

Did not solve. It seams to be an RC defect! But it's a brand new one. My second drone and  I have not been lucky with DJI.

I have a Crystalsky UB with all the latest updates and a P4P with the 01.05.0300 firmware installed and in two test flights today I am NOT experiencing any inverting of the live video image over a dozen tests when moving the gimbal to the limit pointing straight down either with the P4P stationery or flying forward.  I do not shoot in RAW mode, so I did not test for the color cast issue reported by several users.

Like Punchbuggy, I tested RTH three times and aircraft returned home and landed as expected EXCEPT
i got no PRECISION LANDING messages and the aircraft landed about 1.5 to 2 feet from landing point each time and it was sunny - so precision landing feature may be fubared.

UPDATE 01JAN2018 4 PM CST: I tested Precision Landing RTH 3 times today in bright sun starting with P4P (01.05.0300 firmware) sitting on center of a well-defined high-contrast home point target (18 inch diameter landing pad with bright yellow design) flying out 1000-1200 feet in various directions at 120-160’ AGL and then initiating RTH from the P4P RC. I was running DJI GO 4 (v 4.1.18) on a Crystalsky Ultra Bright with version V02.04.06.00 firmware). Each time the P4P returned to home point, turned to face original takeoff orientation, descended, and DJI GO app displayed “Precision Landing - Adjusting Landing Position” and landed within 2-4 inches of precise takeoff point! VERY SUCCESSFUL TEST of PRECISION LANDING. I can only assume earlier tests failed due to insufficient contrast at landing spot and/or failure to use a highly visible high-contrast target.

Ok so I downgraded the firmware on crystalsky (just press the 3 barres option for few seconds and firmware options appears.

With the old firmware, no more issues as reverse image or orange color on raw files, or DJI GO 4 crashing.

Yes - I enabled the "Precision Landing" checkbox before each automated takeoff (actually, I think it says something like 'record precise takeoff point').  This feature has worked flawlessly for me about 90% of the time over the past six months or so of flying my P4P and I really like it.  Don't know if the issue is related to the new P4P firmware, or the ground pattern at the home point on this particular day being "unreadable," or that I am now using a Crystalsky UB as my primary mobile device vs. my iPad Air 2 in the past. I have not had a successful "Precision Landing" since switching to the Crystalsky UB, but I only have 6 flights so far and several of those were on cloudy days.  More thorough testing to come in coming weeks.

Well i think im safer to stick with the old firmware untill dji can get there act together and produce something that actually works.
Just trying to get my head around this.
1. New firmware doesnt fix most of the old problems that have been reported ever since the last firmware.
2. Has created new problems ontop of the old problems thus creating even more disatisfaction in the product.
3. Introduction of pano mode that cant be used by most pilots anyway.

Just one Question i have is WHY DID THEY EVEN BOTHER?

Oh i forgot to mention optimized geo fencing to restrict our flights even more than they currently do.

I guess i expect to much after all dji cant even fix a simple glitch with flight distances not updating on the forum.

Updated. Gimbal/Camera wobbled around at 59% but went back into position and upgraded to 100% within a few mins without a hitch. Going to test fly as soon as the temps go North.

FFS Dji, my phone auto upgraded to the new firmware so I had to upgrade the drone too - is it possible to downgrade to the last firmware?? Please help I am on vacation in Rio and need this sorted asap !
