Hi DJI,

I've seen numerous posts\threads from people asking why\if the Mavic needs to be powered on to run the simulator. The stock answer seems to be that it needs to pull flight configuration data from the aircraft, so it must be powered on to run.

This seems quite dumb actually. The simulator helps make better, more confident pilots, so it is to your advantage to make sure people are using it before flying. The more difficult you make it for them to do so, the more crashes, support calls and dissatisfied customers you're going to have.

No one wants to take the props off the Mavic, power it up and have it sit there blinking while it gets hot and the fan kicks ond an off while they use the simulator!

Please modify this behaviour:

Start simulator -> check for connected aircraft. -> If connected, pull flight parameters from aircraft and start sim, else use default parameters included in sim data to start sim.

Thanks for your consideration,

ianc

Agreed.  They can even hide it behind the pay wall of "need to have a registered drone in order to use it."

Whilst in theory it seems a good idea, the reality is that the sim is so VERY basic that it  provides very little real practical experience. After 15 minutes you might just as well head to a nice flat open area and fly the real thing. !

To be really useful as a training tool the simulator would require a complete reinvention.

I say forget the sim.....It's a toy......BUT, READ THE MANUAL, then REREAD THE MANUAL and watch every tutorial you can get hold of on YouTube!  That will help save you from crashing your brand new drone !

just tried the sim once... but such a waste of battery specially if your owning a spark... so, i got out and fly in beginner mode a couple of feet only to practice controls.
but it's also a good idea to make the sim available without powering on your drone..
