I just finished putting together a test of the DJI Spark's low light capabilities for my blog: http://illuminationsfromtheattic.blogspot.com/2018/01/dji-spark-low-light-test.html
Overall, I think it did very well - it's not too bad at higher ISOs, and can do remarkably long exposures. I did however experience sensor malfunctions at lower altitudes while flying in especially dim conditions.

In a related, upcoming video/article I'm planning a further test of the Sparks ability to shoot long exposures. However, since I don't have an ND filter I'll have to do it in dim conditions, and I can't do it at all till a time when I can travel to a good location and a time without pouring rain coincide!

Spark did perform well!

I guess I'd thought that the VPS system wouldn't be affected. I suppose the reason the spark is more stable higher up is that is because the GPS is completely in control, and the rest of the sensor system isn't being confused.

That is correct.
There is a couple of ways  Spark 'knows' where it is.
All have their limitations, but combined they do a fantastic job keeping it steady.

I kind of wish there was a way of turning different sensors off if conditions cause them to malfunction.
One thing I haven't tried at night is Tripod mode - I'm thinking that might solve some of the problems I encountered with night fling.

Yes, that is handy sometimes.
Not sure if tripod mode will help you, but it is worth a try.

I think it would - also reducing the sensitivity of the control sticks might make piloting it in the dark a little easier. Unfortunately the lights have been taken down for the season, so there won't be much for me to film outside at night with the Spark till next winter!
