Question about the flight controls.  I understand CSC moves to start & stop the motors. (but not in midair or they'll stop). What I don't understand is, page 42 of the manual. "Method 1: When the aircraft has landed, push and hold down the throttle. The motors will stop after 3 seconds."
So, (in midair), while descending, if I push and hold down the throttle for 3 seconds. Will the motors stop ?

No the motors will not shut off in flight with left stick down.  The bird has to be stationary for this to effect a shutdown

I wonder if and when DJI will finally amend their manuals to clarify this situation, it has been ambiguous for years.

Well the manual does state    "When the aircraft has landed"   I just wanted to be damn sure before I dropped $600.   May the (Air) Force be with you.

Always interesting reading these posts. How many threads have discussed this falsehood?

It shows up atleast once every couple of months...

Yes, please DJI, would you update them manuals.

Hi Bikingdawg, as the Manual mentioned, only when the drone landed, push and hold down the throttle for 3 seconds will stop the motor, instead of midair. Something like the ground can be detected by the main control.

How about you ask the factory to make it clear in the manual documentation that pulling down on the throttle while in the air WILL NOT stop the motors?

Holding down the LEFT stick in the air does not stop motors - it will give you maximum descent speed vertically to land.  Once the AC detects no more motion in any direction - it will then 'count to three' to make sure it is truly stopped moving and motors will stop.

You can hand catch ... keep it held still - it works, land on ground .. 3 sec's it works.

BUT if you landed on  the deck of a moving boat - then it will not work - it will interpret that as still being in the air. Only way on a moving platform to stop motors is then a CSC or stop the platform.

Tip : Use Left stick down to get max descent ... but before getting very low - slow down the descent so that control that landing fully by easing of that stick. You will find that just before touching AC may bounce in the air as Ground Effect acts ... thats fine ... just let her down nicely. Once Landed and stable - then FULL left stick down to stop motors.

Just a comment ...
