It seems that New Jersey just enacted a law regarding drunk drone flying:

I suppose that is OK.

Thanks for your sharing. I think it will be safer to fly your drone when your mind is clear. Good things to know.

I'm actually shocked, I'd guess Chris Christie would be one of the first to violate it....

Doesn't the FAA already cover this?
I've never understood laws on top of laws.

I hear they need money from fines.  The high death rate from drunk flown drones didn't drive the law.  Futhermore, they don't seem to enforce current laws so,...here, hold my beer while I hand launch this sucker over my local city.

FAA says limit is 0.04 %  ( that is half of the NJ allows ) but this is for Part 107
( see https://www.faa.gov/documentLibr ... rcular/AC_107-2.pdf )

The recommendation says "No flying while under the influence of alcohol/other substances." ... common sense no ?

So what % takes precedent...I'll opt for the NJ 0.08%  So the useless FAA is stating that it's far more dangerous to fly a toy drone drunk, thus the 0.04% than it is to drive an automobile.

I don't have a problem with banning flying under the influence - it's all the other baggage they've tacked onto the bill that seems problematic. As I recall it includes some dangerously vague language regarding drones and privacy, and the part relating to wildlife isn't actually about protecting wildlife, it prohibits drones from interfering with hunters killing wildlife.

It's the same Nanny State mentality behind other laws such as open container. You already have laws against driving while intoxicated, but let's make another feel good law to stop you from drinking while you are driving. Because you can't be responsible for your own actions...

Using drones to interfere with people carrying guns on the open range/woodlands is a humorous scenario.  What could possibly happen?

Bored hunter racking a round, "Bob, hold my beer while I shoot that bird hovering in the sky."
