UPDATE at post # 122 page 4 of this thread

Hi all, jst taking a moment to share my 1000km flight distance (offical) milestone over over 50 hrs of flight over 241 flights with u.
Thanks for your support to those who helped with advise along the way

i have chosen 3 tips to recomend to newbies.
1. do not take your mavic out to its full potential until you have enough experiance with it to understand how it performs generally and in wind especially -  what the speed potentials are for differant flight modes (RTH vs ATTI vs GPS vs Sport etc) and have become suitabley practiced at flying in the various flight modes and aslo practiced at how to change them quickly.
2. Wind:
a. do not overestimate the mavics ability to handle strong wind. It handles amazingly well to a point - past that and your are high risk of losing your drone. Read the theory but practice and experaince are going to be essential - if you are going to push the limits then go upwind of yr home point position first and play there.
b. if the wind picks up whilst flying - either go home or head upwind so that home point is down wind - watch out for strong cross winds eg cliffs tops and mountain ridges
c. if the wind picks up go immediately to sport mode - practice this so that switching over is easy as second nature.
3. Switch phone to Airplane mode - disable wifi (whilst flying) disable mobile data and enable Do Not Disturb.

Thanks dji: the mavic is an outstanding piece of equipment - you guys/gals are genius.
I look forward to a release one day of a portable drone like mavic but with better camera and more silent. - oh and googles that are more portable/smaller Screenshot_20180119-165221.png also.

Congratulations, very impressive Just wish the weather here in the UK was a touch more drone friendly otherwise I would be out racking up the flight time myself.

Congrats on 1000KM (1,000,000M sounds better though) I've roughly estimated that if I took off from London Heathrow and put all of my drone flights together in a straight line I would be approahing JFK in New York - it's amazing how many miles you clock up.

Thanks an immesurable amount of luck has been a large contributor to the fact that i even still have my drone at all.
Had a close call this afternoon - so i almost did not make my milestone

No such thing as luck mate - that was your piloting skills and why you still have your drone after a million metres in the air! Kudos to you!

Hahaha Mate - you shouldn't be using your Mavic to spy on retired professional golfers in their Speedo's. It's in the manual LOL

Nice catch! The Tailwind is strong with this one My personal best is still 63.5kmh...

Congratulations on this outstanding milestone, Bekaru Tree! I tend to agree with the others - in flying there is no such thing as luck. The pilot either has the skills or not. The equipment is either working or not.

May I add a 5th advice to your highly-useful list: Whatever the situation is, never ever panic.

Awesome. Congrats.

Would you please share how many pairs of propellers you used?
Or let's say, without any crash/hit anything, how long the propeller will last? And the motor?
Replaced any part in normal working condition?

Thanks!

Thanks flybird. I crashed twice, first time a few days after i got it - crashed into a tree - 2 props got damaged and a gimbal motor overload error occurred - recalibration did not repair the problem so it went back to china. So - new props that time.
Second time i crashed also into a tree and also 2 props got damaged - no other problems - i replaced the props and have been flying about 6 months with them.
Recently inspected they are still in A1 condition - i have spares but definately no need to change them at this time.
90% at least of my air miles has been done after the 2nd crash - since then zero maintenance.
Motors seem absolutely fine.
My flight distance is actually more (unofficial but true) than 1000km - i think that these props i have on have done 1000km and like i say A1 condition still.
I did have one battery that was returned due to swelling cell - took a long time to get back but they sent me 2 instead of one - so i was happy about that.
I suspect that the faulty battery might have been the one on my drone when it crashed the first time.
Occasionaly i wipe my drone with a damp rag and look for any irregualities - none to be found till this time.

Congrats!

I know you took precious time out for the newbies in hopes that they read your suggestions. I'm not knocking anything you wrote as it is the true way to go. Only thing i thought when i read your post is why would a newbie read this when they won't read the manual or anything else that has to do with flying a Mavic. I've been coming to this forum for awhile now and nothing has changed. Post after post after post of snibbling cry babies and it's been quite comical for me as of late for some reason.

Congrats again on your milestone and hope you have many more. Long live the Mavic lol

Thanks, and yes - long live the mavic.

It was like a brief personal revising out loud - i tell myself that if even one pilot gets a 'get out of jail free card' cause they read my post , then it was worth the bit of time it took.
safe - happy flying
