3DR solo cant even compare to Inspire 1. No, Ozren, it's not a direct Inspire competitor. It's more of a Phantom competitor. But if 3DR has an Inspire-grade product in the pipeline and strikes the right customer service notes right now with the Solo, DJI is going to have an emergency coming up.
My field is video production and I've been at it for 30+ years. I remember when Avid Technology, having pioneered computer-based editing and cornered the market, went public and started focusing on profits over customer satisfaction. It became opaque just like DJI and developed a simmering well of customer dissatisfaction - but it still owned its market. But suddenly worthy competitors, like Final Cut Pro and the revamped and hugely improved Adobe Premiere Pro - began popping up, and Avid found that it had so soured the pool of customer perception that there was NO customer loyalty. Customers fled to other platforms in droves, and the only way Avid could compete was on price. Today it's a shell of its former self, selling software-only versions of its platform for about 20% (or less) of what "An Avid" used to cost. There was a huge management shakeup when that was happening, and some very worthy people are now at the helm. But the company experienced HUGE amounts of damage due to its bad behavior.
It's very frustrating seeing another company make very similar mistakes - a company my small business is now thoroughly invested in. |
