You can imagine the look on our faces when after running 2 sets of batteries (No Issues)... When I brought it in from the last captures, here is what we saw when it landed and shut down the motors!!! Scary to say the least. Hull: Inspire 2 / X7 / 16MM Lens

How secure was the prop with just one clip in tact?

Sorry to read on this, is everything else alright except for the propeller mounting plates? Any collision during flight? May I have the serial number of the aircraft?

I did not have to twist the secure tab off to remove the prop. Pretty scary for sure.

Hi Mindy -

Nothing else was wrong. No, there were no collisions during flights. Luckily we check all motors and and make sure the props are secure prior to every flight. Needless to say, new mounting plates and props have been ordered!

I remove the props after every shoot that we do, sometimes multiple times a day if its a run and gun shoot.

I'm not into voiding anything. I look at it this way, the OEM products that DJI supplies are designed by them for the copter. Hours upon hours of testing... Good enough for me!

If you can avoid removing ( the props ) them I would , I leave mine on as much as I can as the stress form mount and removal can be a lot, same with the camera, if you can find a safe way to transport it in is flight ready configuration .  At the very least change the locks and props ( mostly the locks ) a couple of times a year at minimum and more if you are putting in many flights and be sure to inspect before each flight . .  This is an area of catastrophic failure if the prop lock does fail , lucky for you it did not fly off.

Thanks for sharing as it makes us all think about this , good luck

Hey Donnie -

Unfortunately thats not really an option with all the travel and the the sometimes multiple locations per shoot. As for the gimbal, I would not recommend leaving it on there during any transport. It would not take much to damage the gimbal as there is no way of securing it.

I was just wondering if that was the cause of the failure?

I understand , the X5 camera is quite a bit heavier and more likely to strain over bumbs and what not .  I use mostly the X3 and just sold my X5 as I hardly implemented it .

Good luck and don't forget to swap out the locks several times a year if doing a lot of flying,

Cheers

Hopefully it was just a badly made prop lock.

It's the first case I've heard of but I'll be double checking mine from now on

I'm not into voiding anything. I look at it this way, the OEM products that DJI supplies are designed by them for the copter. Hours upon hours of testing... Good enough for me!

The oem T prop is designed to fly even when one teeth clamp comes off. As long as one teeth clamp stays, there's no way of it unlocking. Only if both teeth clamps come off.

I suggest you take off the foam inside the propeller to reduce stress on the teeth clamps and then simply tighten the middle by thickening the middle mount with tape or with npolish. Instead of having vertical stress on the teeth clamps to tighten, you will have stress from tightness on the middle hole and mount instead.

Inspire 2's crash because of motors and legs coming off not because of oem T propellers. Or the battery connection malfunction.

Even in the inspire 1 series, nobody crashed with T propellers.

My 1360T propeller came today and came with the foam and it was really tight to lock, causing a lot of vertical stress on the teeth clamps. It's not a good solution so I removed them and I won't ever use the foam even if they're reusable.

Still have the ss when I was looking for a fix to my prop. That's the user who first posted a solution fix for the loose T propellers by thickening the mount. He's also the guy who talked about foams being a not a good idea and his reason was spot on

Your inspire 2 just did it. The one clamp while locked can't come off because of the teeth and the direction force it rotates is opposite of unlocking. If it wasn't, your inspire 2 would be a write off.

So try to reduce stress on the teeth by removing the foam in the propeller that makes it tight on the teeth.

It could also be manufacturing defect or shipping was rough. It could be both also.
There was an 1360LS that came broken on arrival of shipment.

Point is the risky part of the inspire 2 are the legs coming off and the motors coming off.
