Do this on your channel so that the folks that you sub will see you.          Channel settings ----> click on the settings wheel next to the red sub button:
          Privacy
          Keep all my liked videos private
          Keep all my subscriptions private ------? uncheck this option for your avatar to show.
          Keep all my saved playlists private
          Access more options in Account settings.

Then, go and sub them back.  Check a video or two, and make a comment.  Let’s keep this going!

Just plan on putting your videos on YouTube for fun, and not for $ gain.  If your videos are deemed watchable, people will come...  I'm lucky to have one video (a how to) that gets thousands of views a week, and recently passed the 1k subscriber mark, so my channel is able to monetize.

The thing is if you do have less than 1000 subs, and are getting less than 4000 hours, then ad revenue is tiny.
