Ice flow on the Delaware River. Shot with a P4P post FCPX .The Delaware River is a major river on the Atlantic coast of the United States. It drains an area of 14,119 square miles (36,570 km2) in five U.S. states—New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. Rising in two branches in New York state's Catskill Mountains, the river flows 419 miles (674 km) into Delaware Bay where its waters enter the Atlantic Ocean near Cape May in New Jersey and Cape Henlopen in Delaware. Not including Delaware Bay, the river's length including its two branches is 388 miles (624 km). The Delaware River is one of nineteen "Great Waters" recognized by the America's Great Waters Coalition.

     Interesting video.  Somewhere in my youth, I had read that the last time the Delaware had ice was when Washington crossed the Delaware and that was immortalized in the painting of the same name.  It was said to be during the "Little Ice Age" of that time.

     So, is this ice in your video unusual or is it an annual occurrence?  The painting looks like a lot more ice, but you are showing quite a bit of ice there beating up on those buoys.  Would you believe, I have spent much of my life keeping an eye out for any images or "movies" of the Delaware with ice on it.  And you did it in 1440!

It is unusual for the river to freeze over. This year we had below normal temperatures. The river was frozen completely over at that location. I was there at that time and got some pictures and video. The day after I was there a car was flying down the road and went right in to river. The diver left the seen and the passenger did not make it out. It had rain hard and the temp went up to 60 degrees and broke up the ice. So I returned to get some more pictures and video.
