What a phenomenally engineered aircraft! Kudos to DJI for marrying the best features of the Mavic Pro and Spark into a compact and potent package. As a Spark owner, I'm tempted to upgrade.

I still think that you should remove those automatic generated links made in #1 posts everytime the word of a product series is written, quite annoying.

It is even more stupid with those link when they don't work!

    Max distance: 80 m

What does the last state? - if connected to a device video range is reduced, if not connected to a device how would you have a video feed at all ...

My guess would be that it means when connected to a remote controller with phone connected. This makes sense to me since you connect the controller to the phone with a cable, which would enable a higher transfer rate. By phone probably just means using the phone as the sole controller

Guess you're right, possibly i am too old but would never fly without a remote ...

Haha I’m pretty young and I’d be hesitant to fly with just a phone!

With a distance of 80 meters it would not be worth it, i only would reach from one end to the other in my garden.
But i think, should i be lucky and get selected for the free trial, i would have to test it all including the gesture features in order to report results and if any issues are seen. Guess it could be fun as i seem having a ability to do what can't be done.

I am on 10 acre block, 80 metre distance would be useless.

You’re definitely right. I think phone control is more for spark-like activities such as selfie taking and that kind of thing

They have already confirmed it does not. Transmission is enhanced WiFi.

Enhanced WiFi - with the antenna now positioned in the front of the landing gear so the range is 4KM on the Mavic Air (FCC) rather than 2KM on the Spark. And 2KM in CE areas rather than 500M (using 2.4GHz)

The radio signal is transmitted over WiFi through the RC - it is far more powerful than the WiFi in your house

Without RC, DJI is limiting the max range to 50/80m
Spark has 50/100, with mobile phone/tab only

This antenna 'thing', that is usually that, what the Spark would need, too.
Like I wrote in another topic some time ago, antennas behind the battery in the front of the AC arent the best fit!
Maybe I should drill 2 holes in my Spark and attach 2 antennas in the rear legs of the Spark?

Yes thanks, it was figured out just after my Q was posted. I was confused as i didn't think of flying without RC.
