The responses re: bitrate are not entirely accurate. Bit rate refers to the data transfer rate in the TRANSMISSION stream, not the record stream. The data recorded to an SD card is not subject to data loss vis-a-vis bitrate (unless your card has a very slow transfer rate) so you won't see any 'improvement' in video quality on the Air. This is all a marketing game, as the max bitrate of 60 Mbps on the Mavic Pro is WAY beyond the capability of any current playback medium (Blu-ray for example, is only 20 Mbps). Video streaming to the web is ~2 Mbps!
You are confusing transmission and write-speeds, and further conflating optimized multi-pass compression (Blue-ray, Netflix, etc.) with realtime capture compression levels.
Bit rate in this case can be thought of as the write-speed, which maxes out at 60mbps in the Mavic Pro/Plat. The video has to be compressed in order to fit in the 60mbps pipe that the older Mavic camera stack is capable of sustaining. 100mbps write-speed requires less compression. Less compression = lower compression artifacts = higher capture quality.
