I just bought a new Mavic Air.
How can I connect my existing Crystal Sky (small) monitor to it?
Can I use the existing Mavic adapter?

What do I need as far as cables?

I currently use the Crystal Sky on my Phantom controller, so I have no experience with Mavic controllers.

It looks like - no - not compatible -
Fast forward to 7m 47secs

The crystal sky has a specific mount, and yes, I suppose I could use a USB C cable.

That is really quite disappointing, it would have been simple to design  it to fit

The official mount might not, but all the other third-party ones will.

I have jusr ordered a Mavic Air and use a Crystalsky monitor with my Mavic Pro.
Currently the Go app on my Crystalsky goes not support the Mavic Air,  the app has just been updated on my Android devices to show the Air.  Hopefully an update soon for Crystalsky will sort this out.
This is my solution for mounting the Crystalsky on the Mavic Pro controller so I guess it will work OK on the Air. Piece of carbon fibre with velcro. Takes up no room as oppoesed to the dedicated mount which is quite bulky.

Interesting. I like the OEM solution because it uses a quick release, but I suppose I'd kluge something up. Heck, I've got a metal mill, maybe I will modify the OEM mount or wait until DJI fixes it?

I made a diagram/suggestion because I don't have a Mavic, so I had to research around the web to see what didn't work.

THIS REALLY SUCKS.
I just spent big $$ on a Crystalsky and DJIs mounting bracket for my Mavic PRO which I am very happy with.
I have ordered a Mavic Air and now learn that the bracket wont fit the Air's RC!!!!! This is despite clearly seeing the Crystalsky being used with the Air at the launch.
DJI - you need to fix this at no expense to effected customers.

I decided on the FlyhighUSA/DJI OEM Phantom adapter for now.
This allows quick disconnect of the monitor without hassling with cables.
I am sure there will be better solutions down the road. I would have liked to have gone with Mavmount but they don’t have a quick disconnect feature.
Now I just have to wait for DJI to update the Crystalsky for the Mavic Air.

I think the main problem is that the DJI Go 4 app version 4.1.18 doesn't even support  the Mavic Air.

So until we get a CS firmware upgrade, it won't matter what hardware connector we  have, the MA won't fly with the CS

Is there a technical limitation as to why the CrystalSky has not been setup to work with the DJI Mavic Air?  Is it possible?

Yep, just checked and its installing now.  Lets hope there's no bugs
It's a complete reinstallation of the Android system by the look of it. Not just a Go4 update

The PolarPro mounting bracket for the CrystalSky works with the Air just fine. However as yet there is no update or the CrystalSky version of the Go 4 App for the Air. DJI Cs in Shenzhen advise that it is under development.

My guess is the one used during the launch event was a beta version that they are not yet ready to release.

Just received my CS. Happy to hear that it will work now after FW update with my Mavic Air.
Can't test it because i can't charge the batteries from the CS with the Mavic Air charger.
Do I really need to buy an additional charger for the CS?

Yes unfortunately you do have to buy another charger, this is probably the cheapest

but it's not on the official list but it works

Yes, I was all set to get the 5.5" and then found out I need yet another charger, as an extra purchase. Seriously p'd off. Currently looking at chargers on the big A, to see if I can pick up a cheaper third party one. It maybe my laptop charger will fit. It's 200w.

I'm really pisd of also buying a very expensive screen and no battery charger included is impertinent from my point of view.

First time I bought a printer I was mad because it didn't come with the cable to connect it to the computer.
Second time, I was glad that it wasn't included because I already had one and did not need to pay for a spare that I did not need.

There is a really some solution to this issue. I found this in a few seconds by typing what I was looking for into Google. Also, just in case someone reads this in the future, you will need to purchase a phantom series battery charger to charge your crystal sky batteries. The CS does not come with a charging cable, just the housing for 2 batteries!

When playing back videos taken by my Mavic Pro on the CS the footage is normal. However when playing back videos taken by the Air the footage is jerky and sort of picsilating on the CS. (5.5”)
Also the CS doesn’t stitch asteroid shots like my iPhone does.
Any help appreciated

UPDATE:- Worked around the problem by inserting the Airs SD card in the CS and accessing the videos that way. Videos are normal and saved asteroid shots are there
