Hello Everyone! DJI were kind enough to send me the New 'Mavic Air' for some unboxing, testing and when I can some cinematic videos. I had the pleasure of filming the unboxing today, drone package was delayed by a week because of New Zealand Customs, but at least it arrived finally. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts and advice over the coming weeks. Video are pictures below for you. Cheers!

They didn't even send you a fly more or did you receive some more batteries beside the box? i would have expected that in order to get some in-depth testing done without to much hassle.

I was wondering what Micro SD Card DJI recommend for the Mavic Air

It is also interesting the DJI seem to have moved away from the WiFi link from controller to the Ipad/Tablet like on the Spark which worked well for me and now use a cable again. I wonder why this is. Will be better for me as I can now WiFi my tablet to my Phones hotspot and upload live or download maps live

Thanks all! New video up with flight footage.. Haven't flown the Mavic Pro so can't compare to that but really liking this drone considering it's size.

Really need another few batteries as only have the 1.

Did you had any issues flying your Spark in your area? If so, please let us know how stable the connection is with the Mavic Air

No issues with my spark I still have it and love it. The connection to the spark with my Ipad Mini 3 is rock solid and also controller to Drone. The thing was I only bought my spark 3 weeks ago then out comes the Mavic Air So I had to have one. Need another Battery though and they seem to be out of stock. Early days though

Just had my first flight and had to calibrate the vision sensors. Also remember to remove the Ginble cover it is very easy to forget this and to flick down the little front legs.

I have to report that the app crashed on my ipad mini 3 but worked ok on my much newer ipad. My Mini 3 was running IOS 9 which the DJI Go app says is ok. It isn't though. It also crashed on the mini 3 and my spark. I updated the mini 3 to ios 11 and it now seems ok

I wish DJI would be more accurate here in their descriptions

Great videos, thanks for sharing them. I sure wish mine would get here, ordered about noon on the first day so thousands of folks must have ordered theirs sooner than that. I've seen a number of folks have received theirs already.

I'm genuinely confused about this product.

Had it gone on sale before the Christmas period - no doubt DJI would have made a killing in Europe, the Americas, Oz and other places that celebrate Christmas.
Were they delayed in getting the Mavic Air out in time?
Did they release the Mavic Air with time to spare for the Chinese New Year; 16th February, this year?

Is it an ultra portable Mavic, condensing all their tech into a smaller product?  Have they taken the 'Air' label from Apple - MacBook Air anyone?  Or........

Is it an up-rated Spark that has over-dosed on steroids?  A Spark-Pro?




I'm sure it's going to be a good product - and will leave the competition floundering.


I'm keen to see the reviews from the 32Mp camera.

Although 32Mp may be misleading to be honest.  It's 32Mp for a spherical image.  What is the pixel count per single image?  8? 10?12?  Possibly 16Mp?
It certainly won't be 20Mp that the P4A and P carry.

The specs clearly state it’s a 12mp camera. The 32mp spherical image is created with 25 images.

Well, I dunno.  It doesn't look that portable with the table .  

All joking aside, from the thumbnail of your second video, I thought I'd see you hand launch and land the MA.  Nice job on showing some of the flight modes from the display.

When did you get yours?  I got mine Monday and was pretty happy with that speed of delivery.  Uploaded my video Wednesday....

Do you have any experience with the Phantoms? - i got the idea already at the presentation show that it is quite noisy for it's size, how do you feel about that?
Also wondering the Sat count, i would normally have 17-21, is the 15-16 i noticed in your movie the normal down there?
