This is an incredible flight and faith of the equipment working over certain death situation...

Incredible. Very impressive. At one point he says "the distance is much better on this Inspire than the Lightbridge." Maybe he meant to say the Phantom? Or did he make some mods to get that distance? I looked through the comments to see if there was any discussion of mods but didn't see any.

The only thing he could have done to impress me more would have been to land on the helicopter pad :-)

Yes, I reviewed the comments and it seemed as though the Inspire 1 is stock. Watching the video you could see the image warnings come and go, but the signal was pretty strong all the way to the end. The wind did not seem to reduce the flight time either.

You might like this one also. I did it back in March.

You guys have awesome places to film, unfortunately were I am...we keep the images close to get the video's we want......the scenery can get to overwhelming and boring for those who have seen it before......here's my take on we have to offer......let me know what you think....all expertise is greatly appreciated & criticism ....... keep up the good work lads.

Anyways good stuff RichJ. I'm still scared to take my Inspire high and far out in range. I guess its a mind game lol I do have a Trax GPS with mine.

Holy cow.  With all the reports of sudden drops from the sky, batteries jumping from 70% to 8% charge in a couple of minutes, etc., my heart was in my throat watching that video!

I just do not trust my Inspire 1 with all of the reported issues. It seems that you have mastered the long distance flying for sure.

What settings did you have the camera on? are you using the ND filter?

You are correct, I am just too chicken at this point. I hope that I can loosen up once the firmware is better.

The most I've done over water is in the bay at Fish Hoek (SA)... out to just under 1700m (5577ft). Scary, but what a rush

No Filter as it was broken when I got the bird. The truth I have not had any issues with the inspire at all. I have to admit I have been lucky

did you have your video set on automatic? or what are your manual settings?

I wasn't sure whether the distance was in meters or feet, but they reached over 7500!!
I don't have the balls to go that far... I thought the transmission signal limit went to about 2kms!!

Its no where as far out, but I did fly over the ocean some.


My inspire fell from the sky during this shoot... only 2 ft in the water at that point. it was perfect for over 150 flights, then just dropped out of the sky.

Yes, I saw your post and that was a bummer! I remembered this because it was Virginia Beach and I have been there.

Yes, I hope I can have the confidence it takes to fly over the water because I would like to shoot the pacific ocean this year.
