UPDATE:  My order status updated to SHIPPED sometime between 8AM and 9AM  Eastern Time US Tuesday morning, and I appreciate that.  To those who may have found themselves in the same situation as me, I hope that your order changes status soon.  One thing for sure:  DJI is listening, and that is good news for everyone.

DJI, my suggestion is to contact early purchasers and offer a different color that can ship right away rather than put our orders for RED on ice with no input, explanation or options.

I ordered a red Fly More Mavic Air before the presentation keynote was complete.  ALL three colors showed an estimated delivery of 01-28.  After contacting chat support, they say Feb 13, that the 28th was an ESTIMATE, and I could have ordered another color (WHICH I WOULD HAVE IF I HAD KNOWN THERE'D BE A DELAY ON RED!!!!!!).

If I hadn't contacted DJI, I would have never known there was a backorder or anything.

So, DJI, I am trying to turn my frustration into positivity and offer a suggestion that you offer an alternative color, or AT LEAST notify buyers (especially rabidly enthusiactic early ones) if there is a delay.  You can get red paint at the Walmart, but you can't get a Mavic Air.

Agreed. I didn't HAVE to have the red, but since it appeared to be an equally available option. Now those who ordered way after me will have their shinny new drone way before me. And DJI gets to hold onto my money. I like your suggestion, but perhaps too late.

Don't you think you are overdoing a bit? If red is not a must you can still cancel and order one of the others. Very simple.

I don't think what he is suggesting is over doing it at all. Communication to customers can often take not great situations and turn them around into understandable and respected situations. Even and simply automated emailed would be highly appreciative in most regards.

I don't know how that's "overdoing".  Besides, if I cancel my order and order a different flavor, it will still be 3-5 business days according to the chat "specialist".

Must admit, if I knew at time of order there was a longer delay for the red, I’d have picked the black. I think to show all colours the same delivery time at time of order on the 23rd was misleading. That said, there may have been a reason for the reds suddenly becoming unavailable for the extra days ( just to give DJI the benefit of the doubt) but the could still have been a little more forthcoming with their customer information. I don’t like having to wait on an order I have paid for without any real explanation. Especially when there’s this much outlay for the goods.

No one is over doing anything. There was no indication during the order process that the Red version is going to be delayed. If that information waa available at that time, some (like me) would have selected a color that will be shipped sooner. Its disappointing to see DJI not updating customers about this possible delay unless they contacted them. Now we are left in this limbo.

I can very well understand that that you are excited to get it as soon as possible as I am myself. But there has been at least one misunderstanding on your side. Above you wrote that delivery was promised for 28, which is not correct. They announced that shipping would start on the 28 (which it did on 27 even) and I didn't see a promise that all would be shipped on the same day. Assuming the amount of pre-orders I imagine that unfeasable actually.

Overdoing? No, I don’t think he’s overdoing it.

Dji didn’t find out about the shortage or delay this morning or last night especially on orders that was placed over 5 days ago. The least they can do is send a quick email to people who order the red ones a choice.

Keep them in the dark and not deliver on the promise is the fastest way to loose loyal fans. I’m waiting for my red one as well.  Mine won’t be in till 2/15. Hmmm! I ordered mine at the end of the presentation

An appropriate idea, Abby.
But I've got to agree with Wachtberger too - I doubt that there was a deliberate intent to mislead by DJI with delays in shipping red, so some of the agro is not called for. It's probably just a miscalculation as to the ratio between colours which would be most popular on release. Noting that the manual hasn't even been finalised, DJI clearly rushed this to market and they're probably still gearing up the production lines.
I wanted red specifically, and frankly I'd rather wait a little for DJI to get it right. It's currently only 6 days after release after all, and the wait time for the Mavic Pro on release was much much longer.

So I do agree with you Abby. It'd be courteous now for DJI to email out to those having bought red to advise of the delay. It is quite frustrating to have ordered a specific colour and to see others getting their other coloured Mavics before me...

I agree with BobUnplugged as well but I will say personally I ordered mine on the 23rd will the expectation of not seeing it tell probably March and with the very very small possibility of seeing it in late February mostly because this is very similar to the Mavic launch which i recall delayed some customers orders up to 4 months. But all of that being said some communication would be highly appreciated and respected.

Mine now says shipped as well. No tracking but does say shipped so at this point I would say they are ahead of what i was expecting. I do agree with Bob they are listening

Well it's working because I checked mine about 100 times yesterday. I'm still not expecting to actually see it for at least another week or more.

I ordered one of the red ones during the DJI live event...it shipped on the 29th and said delivery on Monday but I got it today....just did the updates and flew one battery...I can say this...if you're use to mavic then be aware of the lower flight time of the Air..camera shots seemed really good so looks good so far
