Hi All,

I am new to these forums, as I just ordered my first drone (Mavic Air) and so I apologize if this question has been asked, as I searched but could not find anything on the topic...

I want to order a microSD card for the drone and was wondering what a good size is to get?  is 128gb overkill? Is it not enough, especially with the air being able to capture video in 4k @ 30fps? Basically I want to make sure that when I am out flying that I have enough space to capture my entire days worth of flights.

Let me know all know what you are using, as I have been leaning toward this card for use with my air:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MicroSD-Adapter-MB-ME128GA-AM/dp/B06XWZWYVP/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1517858317&sr=1-3&keywords=microsd+128gb&dpID=417GrTrMCfL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

My only concern with the card is the write speed... I want to make sure that the card is fast enough to handle all the data trying to be written to it without having to lose any quality in the video or photos I plan to take.

Thanks All!!!!

Hi!
That 100 Mbps is 12.5 MB/s. So it's capable.

Some people use 16 or 32 GB and they change card as same time as the battery. On the other hand some people use 64 and 128 GB which can store more data and should work fine by DJI recommendations.

Personally I bought 64GB Sandisk Extreme Pro. About same price as that Samsung you linked and it also includes recovery software license.

I decided to go with three  x 32Gb cards. I am getting the fly more combo so one card for each battery.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/prod ... 0?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I thought, if I loose the MA I don't want to loose all my footage too.

If I am away from home for a long weekend I can use each card twice

Sorry, have a OT question  as I can not find anywhere to do this, but is there a way to turn off getting an e-mail every time someone replies to one of my threads?  I was looking under settings, but there is nothing there..

Thanks

It's a new feature because some users had asked for that (these must be hardcore forum addicts ). So DJI added the notification but forgot an option to switch it off. It has been confirmed that the engineers are working on it ;-)

Good to know! BTW - what does stealth do on our drop down list - I noticed this option recently.

You get that at the Captain grade, when selected it displays you as being "offline" while you keep on spying on all others of us ;-).

I find 16gb to be enough space 4k @30fps = 33mins of footage
and if you get 1 for each battery its fine
you cant fly longer than 20 mins with the mavic air anyway
so why waste the extra money on a 32/64 gb
you shouldn't keep footage on the card anyway incase you lose it or it breaks

Ditto. I have the 128GB card. Can't be faffed with swapping the card every battery. If I have some footage that I really need to keep then I'll swap in a different card. Mostly I'll offload the footage at the end of the day.

What is the difference between the plus and the pro??  Why is the pro not listed as it seems faster than the plus?  The speed of the plus is 90Mbps and the Pro 100Mbps.  Talking about the 128GB cards.

I got the SanDisk 128 SD card recommended by DJI for two reasons:  i don't like to buy additional upgrades when i find out i am running out of space  and also because the cap who covers the memory and the USB port seems like a little fragile...  so i will not have to open that bay as many times just to switch memory...

I run a 64GB card.

If you are going to be recording lots of 4K video -- i'd buy the largest card that is compatible with the aircraft.    It wouldn't be fun to have to constantly worry about capacity -- especially when out in the field.

And on that thought,  maybe purchase a large, fast card as your primary,  and a smaller (32 or 64 GB) card as a backup?

I got a SanDisk Extreme PLUS 128GB microSDXC UHS-I Card - SDSQXBG-128G-GN6MA from Amazon.

This one in particular rated highly on real-world tests. I went with 128 for the same reasons others did. I didn’t want to swap out the memory at any time for any reason when in the field.

Been happy with it.

I am currently getting about 8Gb (mmh, internal size choosen right ) per battery so 64Gb is enough for one day for me. I mostly capture in 2.7k 60fps and some pano's per flight.
