The new Ronin M looks like a great option for a someone looking for a gimbal that can be used with a few different camera and lens conbinations for both handheld and multi-rotor use. I am looking to use the Ronin M with my S1000, A2, aftermarket anti-vibration plate and Kopterwork Movi Gimbal Adapter. I'll also extend the landing gear length to accomidate the larger gimbal.

Questions:
-will the d-bus on the Ronin M allow me to a Futaba s-bus reciever for flying?
-Is a Kopterworx Movi 5/10 gimbal adapter for the S1000 the best solution for mounting the Ronin M to a S1000?
-Is there anything I'm missing that would make the Ronin M work or not work on the S1000. I know weight will be on the heavy side but should be within the S1000 capabilities with Sony A7s, a6000, and maybe GH4.

Thoughts?

The ronin is way too tall for the height below the frame on the s1000. You could extend the legs (which is what I've done to fit my MOVI m5). I'm not sure the longer legs I'm using (550mm) would be long enough - I could measure the clearance this week once I have them mounted up.

I haven't run across anyone who has paired those up - as you suggested - weight would be the big issue.

Thanks Dylan.  I was aware of this...Kopterworx sells the longer legs (550mm) with the Movi 5/10 adapter s1000 gimbal plate that I would try to use with the Ronin M quick release. I did the math and with a 16000mah battery I would be under 10.5kg, so it would fit within the 11kg max of the s1000.

I think my biggest question is if I can get longer rang (from the D-bus port?), so I can fly longer range. Looks like the controller that comes with it will only do 100-200 meters. So, will the D-bus receive work with a Futaba S-bus remote control?

Did you find an answer or solution to this? i'm looking to do the same thing but am struggling with the Futaba 10J and not being able to reassign the first 4 channels.

Tip : Dont do it. It will fit, there are adapters available, and it works, s1000 flyes nicely, but ronin doesent like to fly. Ronin will have horizon and drifting problems, to degree that the footage will be unusable.

Devonlyons2.. any updates? Im looking at getting a s1000 and a friend is selling his Ronin-M. I was thinking about this exact setup vs. a gimbal that I'm locked into 1 camera with.

How Long you can fly with this setup? I have the sam configuration and it's about 6-8 minutes.My S1000 carry ronin m with gh4 and canon L 16-35

we allready build 2, weight is about 10kg  and flight time with flair 6S16000 -> 12 min

Whats the point of doing this when theres a specific gimbal designed for the camera you will be using?

U can use different cameras and different lenses. This is the main advantage o using ronin

how you conect vision with ronin m and gh4. I am using lightbridge but there are a lot of interferences ang lags.

Does anyone have footage of the ronin m flying? I have flown my a7sll , in forward flight I get and up and down motion on the tilt axis, any ideas?l

Switch off the A7S II auto stabilisation within the menu. Generally these kind of contract on themselves when using it on a tripod or a gimbal.

You just need to disable the Smooth Track with the Ronin App. You have the option to disable the tilt and yaw (pan) I think. How you configure this will depend on whether you are using doing a single operator or dual operator setup.

I am still getting some shake in my footage, I also changed my rubber dampers to the softer version. Maybe it has something to with the camera, I flew 4K, 30 Frames and my shutter speed at 60 and i still get shaky video. Can you help me out or some advice! Thank You.
