periodically when making a post I see something that says "+10 credit", or "$1 dollar" -
is that something that can be/is applied to a purchase? if so - how do I apply that?

If that credit could be used to purchase anything, this would be the #1 forum on the internet.

I believe that counts towards your user reputation and what features are unlocked in the forum.
