To fly a phantom 4 standard and be safe, what color and pattern should the leds be?

As in your previous post, page 12 of the P4 Manual explains the meaning of the rear aircraft status LEDs on the P4, the front two LEDs are always red and are the navigation lights, an indication of the aircraft orientation. The navigation lights can be turned off if required.

In a normal outdoor situation I would expect to see green flashing LEDs on rear of aircraft.

As Aardvark mentioned, the front LEDs will be red all the time, and the rear LEDs will change according to the specific situation. I'll attach the screenshot for your reference.
