I had gimbal guard on for awhile and flying with no problems. I updated my firmware and after that i would get a error messages saying "ultrasonic sensor error please land immediately" come up after about 30seconds of flight. I have since removed gimbal guard and recalibrated vision positioning system and everything seems ok.
Just wondering if i could have done the recalibrate and left the gimbal guard on. Has anyone had the same problems with gimbal guards or if anyone is using a gimbal guard with no problems.

They are more trouble than they are worth. And I don't believe the calibration will be successful if you try to perform it with the guard in place.

NO, deffo not, i struggled to bring my P4P down from about 60m, took me a while and was scary, didnt know what was going on, till the penny dropped (thankfully not the p4p) As GeeBax says, more trouble then they are worth, just be mindful of your flying and you shouldnt need one

I would leave the guard off the latest firmware has prob made the ultrasonics a bit more sensitive.
Try a landing mat instead these are relatively inexpensive and also protect gimbal from anything on the ground.

Mine has saved me losing my camera a couple of times.

But I'm flying a Phantom 3 Pro' that has no said sensors.

Turn the sensors off and fly right...  ;-)

Turning the sensors off for a novice pilot is prob not a good recommendation.
The ultrasonics combined with the vps system give the drone an almost flawless landing everytime turning these sensors off can easily cause the drone to have hard landings and cause significant damage for an inexperienced pilot

Turn them on to land... ;-)

Anyway, landing is part of flying. Learn to do it manually.
