The batteries will automatically drain to 60 percent after 10 days but need to be fully cycled every 3 months if being stored.

If it's not a dumb question, how do you get them down to 33%?

I just use the battery connector and stick an iPhone on charge till the lights get to one.

I have a Phantom 3 that sits in my closet as a backup to my Mavic.  Every couple of months, I take it out and check the batteries.  Usually, I get a couple of lights.  If not, I'd recharge and return to closet.  To quickly bring the battery down, you can also just hook it up to your bird and turn it on.  Let it sit like that til the battery is where you want it.  But, again, for me, I don't worry about that.  I know the battery will self discharge after whatever days I'd set for them.  So, I just let DJI take its course.

I keep it in the drone and fly til it reaches 33% and then land it.
