HASSELBLAD HISTORY

The Hasselblad name has been linked with cameras almost since the early days of photography itself. First merely selling, then producing the tools through which vision is captured. And our tradition of designing cameras with photographers in mind, for superior image quality, for reliability and versatility goes back more than half a century years. And the story behind our cameras is almost as fascinating as the cameras themselves.

                                                    1.history.jpg

HASSELBLAD IN SPACE

In 1969 the Hasselblad space saga continued with Apollo 11, and the first images of man on the moon and of earth from the moon captured by Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin Jr., with a Hasselblad 500EL/70. There are perhaps no images in the history of photography more famous and more influential than those taken with Hasselblads in space. And true to form, Victor and his engineers used the advances and product developments that arose from the space cameras to add groundbreaking features and functions to the cameras they sold here on earth. The world had been his development lab before, and now the lab got bigger still.

HASSELBLAD X1D

At less than half the weight of a conventional digital medium format camera, the mirrorless X1D-50c is a game changer in the world of photography.

Inspired by our iconic design heritage, the camera is ergonomic and compact, offering a handling experience unlike any other. The X1D combines Scandinavian sensibility with beautiful performance.

Small enough to take anywhere, powerful enough to capture anything.

HASSELBLAD H6D

For the photographer who demands nothing less than the best from their digital camera, we present the H6D-100c. Its large sensor offers an almost full field-of-view from our HC & HCD wide angle lenses and is capable of recording breathtaking detail, even in poor lighting conditions.

That's just a silly belief. Uneducated.

Man walked on the moon, and if you don't believe it. Too bad...

What do you think Space Race refers to? Haha

The Russians are already out to saturn. What do you argue about that? Chuckles

The thread is about Hasselblad camera tech., not your beliefs in thruths and honor.

Hasselblad shoud be able to pack more quality into 1" sensor than some other brands are able to pack in a full frame.
That and Zeiss optics and things will start to look decent again.

DJI bought a majority stake in Hasselblad back in 2015. It makes sense that DJI would promote the brand. I also read where they plan to put a Hasselblad camera on some of their drones, probably the very high end ones.

Did Apple bought some stakes in DJI? Would be very useful to know especially for Android users.

Don't know that many of you have done much with 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 in the past, but, Blad's rule!    The bad part was  the body and a few lens would almost pay for half a house.

I like you, but can't respect this post. You can not be that naive, my friend.

When Challenger shuttle blew up, I cried my eyes out, for several days. Still tear up thinking about Christie McCullough dying, needlessly. What a waste and huge loss to humanity.
Yeah, some think that was made up..
So I guess that you think the ISS is phoney too? Haha

We can PM the rest of this conversation.

Always wondered, being they told us in school there was no atmosphere on moon.

"What a waste and huge loss to humanity."

It was.  Part of it do to arrogance at NASA.
They ignored previous signs of problems.  They ignored warnings from Morton Thiokol about burn thrus and cold weather risks.
NASA even ignored their own statistician who warned them that booster design would result in a critical failure of a booster for every 52 lit.  Being there was two lit on every launch, there was 1-in-26 chance that Shuttle would be destroyed between launch and booster burn out.

Yes, thank you. I could have looked it up, and out of respect to her and her family, I rightly should have.

Anyway, what a tragedy. But some think that was fake too. Go figure.

Yeah, like the Titanic never sank...

That was kind of you, and I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Good stuff.

Love the brand! Awesome acquisition by DJI. I am having a couple of PRO photographers that work for Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc. evaluate it, once they can find one for rent. Might get one at some point if they validate it. If DJI has tester programs, let me know, I will put you in contact with them. They're truly top of the line photographers

They were definitely a leader in the past, but current blunders such as the hassleblad sticker slapped on the sonynex 3 and sold for quadruple the price, among other recent moves has made them feel like its just for nostalgia and showy purchasing...even for a bigger company to buy them seems more for show these days. Its older gear is amazing, but today, its more of a Frankenstein camera, sony sensors, etc..
