I have an M210 with a Zenmuse XT and a couple of Zenmuse cameras (X4 and X5s).I want to pair/ matchup the thermal XT with the RGB cameras, but I cannot find out what the 35mm equivalent is for a 13mm Zenmuse XT.  I want to get a camera that has a matching frame and the Zenmuse options all provide 35 mm equivalents, but for the XT.

Does anyone know?  The XT 13 mm is more like a telephoto.  i don't want to fly the Z30 because it's too heavy and overkill.

For example, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45mm for the X5s is actually 90mm in 35mm camera equivlent.
The DJI MFT 15mm for the X5s is actually 30mm in 35mm equivalence.

What's the 35 mm equivalent of the XT given that it's thermal?

Thanks so much!

Hi ! I don't know the answer but I'm very interested to know !
maybe a combo: X5S + 14-52mm (olympus or parasonic) https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... 4&page=1#pid1194553
It ll give you the choice to find the right level of zoom needed?

Thanks!  I was thinking of that as a solution, but if there was a fixed version, that would be fewer moving parts, if you know what I mean.  I could get the zoom, find the right focal length, then purchase the closest fixed focal length.  But if someone knew the answer, I could avoid getting a camera I wouldn't use very much.

I'll keep this solution in mind.

Thanks again!

Another solution (if anybody has the exact answer) could be to calculate it with picture at altitude known with size's object or distance known?
Maybe email directly support@dji.com (that's what Moderator will do or will ask you to do because they don't have the answer !) or by contacting FLIR?
Anyway I'm realy interested by the answer !

I also think it depends of the resolution of your XT:

640 × 512
  9mm FOV = 69° x 56°
  13mm FOV = 45° x 37°

  19mm FOV = 32° x 26°

336 × 256
  9mm FOV = 35° x 27°
13mm FOV = 25° x 19°
  19mm FOV = 17° x 13°

For exemple:
XT 13mm 640*512 FOV = 45°
X5S with DJI MFT 15mm FOV = 72°
X4S FOV = 84°

Conclusion, if you have 640 XT 13mm I think you need to find a Camera/lens with 45° FOV.

It would be intersting to get the FOV from all X5S lens

I also think it depends of the resolution of your XT:
  640 × 512  9mm FOV = 69° x 56°
  13mm FOV = 45° x 37°    19mm FOV = 32° x 26°

Wow - thanks for such an excellent exploration of the issue.  Yes, you're absolutely right, it depends on the resolution (I have the 640 x 512, 13 mm).  The FOV is what matters w.r.t. my question, but what is often presented is the focal length.

I noticed that the formula for focal length in 35mm equivalents seems to be simply doubling the mm of the Zenmuse X5s lens to get the 35 mm equivalent.  For example,

Panasonic Lumix 14-42mm/3.5-5.6 HD -- 28-84mm (35 mm equivalence)
Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm/2.0 (With Balancing Ring) --  24mm (35 mm equivalence)
Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm/1.8 (With Balancing Ring) --  34mm (35 mm equivalence)
Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm/1.8 ----  50mm (35 mm equivalence)
Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm/1.8  --  90mm (35 mm equivalence)
Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm/4.0-5.6 -- 18-36mm (35mm equivalence)

At least according to B&H Photo.

The FOV varies by format in my Nikon cameras, FX, DX, and CX being different for each focal length.

The angle of view for the Olympus 12 mm is 84 degrees.
The angles of view for the Olympus 9-18mm is 100 - 62 degrees.
The angle of view for the Olympus 25mm is  47 degrees.
The angle of view for the Olympus 45mm is 27 degrees.
The angle of view for the DJI MFT 15mm is 72 degrees
The angles of view for the Panasonic 14-42mm are 75 - 29 degrees.

So, perhaps the closest match is the DJI MFT 15mm?  The zoom would get the exact match, but have to be locked at the right setting.

Thanks again for your thoughts and advice - this is amazingly helpful.

Sorry, I meant the best match would be the  Olympus 25mm at 47 degrees?

Hi !!!
Thanks for your additionnal informations !
I would also say the 25mm is the best match with your need, but without testing, I don't want say something wrong !! but I agree with your raisoning. The best would be if someone share experiences/pictures with this 25mm X5S lens !!! =)
If I buy XT, and I will also need a X5S but I think I ll get the 14-42mm for its versatility !
Let me know what you decide to do/buy !!!
