WARNING: Mavic Pro landing gear that attaches to the rear motor struts leave ugly scratches on it.
Some other types can be "Seen" by the down-cameras which assume they are Ground, the Pro thinks its too low and automatically climbs !!
I ordered a different brand than this but they all do it so I am not going to scratch up my shiney Pro for the sake of $10.
I use the Heli-Skids as they connect to the brackets on the Pro, only weigh 12 Grams and do not add Frontal Drag.
They also Fold so you don't have to remove them to put the Pro back in you're Case.

Not at all - "But everyone has different Likes, tell us you're Landing Gear Story/Suggestions please?" My suggestion is not to use them.
You don't have a "Landing Gear Story", and since you have never used any could hardly contribute any useful knowledge or opinions.
yes, they are safe, the Chinese copies probably are too. But the motor-boom ones leave marks, the video shows noticeable scratching after only Two Flights.

Thats a little presumptive on your part as I have actually owned the PGYTech landing gear which goes to show the need for you to know who you are talking to before jumping to conclusions. If you watch one of Ed Rickers more recent videos he too has decided not to use them anymore either and DJI have stopped selling them on their on line store. Useful enough for you pal!
If the grass is long it will jam you're gimbal during the startup test if you don't have UC or a Mat.
The grass is full of micro-particulates and tiny beasties that get sucked in to the air intake at the front by the internal Fan.
You cant see that stuff until it starts piling up on the circuit board that the pumped air flows over.
Our Mavics are high-tech flying machines lets keep the dirt out of them.
Just because you cant see it does not mean its not there
Don't blame you mate - Hand launch/catch if you feel comfortable in doing so or use a landing pad. I never place anything on my drones not made and tested by DJI these days and one inch of clearance does not prevent particles from entering the heat sync either. Further more, the landing gear impacts on the aerodynamics of the drone and thus prohibits performance by causing drag and exacerbating horizon tilts in faster winds - known facts. It can also interfere with the vision positioning system at lower altitudes - not ideal if flying over water! Not to mention the hassle of putting them on and taking them off and I have seen several examples on here of them falling off mid flight and the pilot crash landing - they are just not worth it.

Interesting, never thought of the impact on the aerodynamics.

That is why I used a landing pad.
Not 100%, but better than nothing.
Not as bad but a similar principle to using prop guards. I did find the PGYtech ones to be OK but did notice issues in faster winds and the clearance just isn't high enough to really make that big a difference in my experience of using them, especially from gravel and sand. I prefer a landing pad these days so when the drone is in the air there is nothing prohibiting it's movement, precision and endurance, nothing to fall off and the pad also makes the home point clearer for the precision landing feature to work more effectively. Annoying to set up but better than damaging the drone from rough terrain and a better solution to using third party landing gear.

I think that makes sense.
Not sure if the landing pad will be 100% protecting from dust, but it is better than nothing.

The smaller the pad the less protection - PGYTech do 55, 75 and 110CM pads - the latter are more for Inspires and Phantoms, the 75CM for Mavic Pros and the 55CM for the Mavic Air/Spark. If you put an Inspire 2 on a 55CM pad the landing gear will be touching the grass Though on very large drones you don't even really need a pad as the retractable landing gear makes a big enough clearance anyway.

That is true. I had a DIY one by using an old tray. Big enough for the MP.
It's massive compared to my Phantom 4 Pro let alone the Mavic. Flies beautifully though - he has the premier combo so records in 5.2K at 4,200MBPS - that's right - 42 times higher bitrate than the Mavic Air LOL. The footage is like looking at a cinema screen. That said, he had to carry it in a wheel barrow hahaha One of those things in life whereby the dream is nicer than the reality. I wouldn't hesitate in getting one if I were a professional drone pilot. May be one day. And yes, I would use that 110CM landing pad for sure - would hate the thought of my ten grand drone combo being damaged. The camera alone is worth more than 3 Mavic Pro's

Yes, everything has it's price.
(both in weight as in money)
I think I'd better stick with something portable and live with the shortcomings.

I am curious what DJI will do with the MP2, although I think it will be out of my budget.
If the rumors are true that might be a great combination of portability and image quality.

For sure! I imagine they will look at the image processor and improve the CODEC to H.265 with a variable aperture. a 1" sensor would be very challenging to achieve on such a small design but DJI move mountains in this tech so nothing would surprise me. The camera will be the main upgrade on the next gen. OcuSync will probably continue or be enhanced further to improve image transmission and sinusoidal ESC's to retain the quieter noise output from the motors will be in the mix. I imagine it will be a combination of the best parts of the P4P and MPP merged into an updated, modern and dynamic design. If that is the case then I don't imagine much change out of 2 grand - it's all speculation of course. Retractable landing gear would be a nice touch too but I can't see that due to the added weight it would cause. Portability has always been the focal point of the Mavic which is why I fail to understand why people carry this drone around in a suitcase.

Yes, that 2K price point is (for now at least) of of my league.
But we will see what mountains will be moved ;)
Six6Sics #666 Posted at 2018-2-15 14:23
I used these, and agree, no scratching but suffered from them being "seen" and the uncontrollable climb that goes with it.
Simply disable the "Landing Protection" in settings

If it does meet all of the criteria that I predict it will be offer everything I need in one drone so I'd sell my P4P and MPP to get it I don't think we'll see an 'MP2' for some time yet though.

I can imagine. That makes the Phantom almost obsolete.
Maybe only the in air stability with the higher weight of the Phantom.
I don't know. The MP has been around for some time now...
Thanks for the advice. I bought some cheap landing gears a while back, but it was impossible to fit them on. I felt they would damage the antennas. So I tossed them in the garbage... Instead, I learned how to launch and land with my hands if it is difficult to land otherwise.
