Personally i m very disapointed with mavic Air range. Just get it. I used it twice and will sell it, start loosing signal at 200 meters with no housing in the area. Afraid of loosing it, hopefully there is the return home button. For me this drone would be super nice if there was not this range issue.

trick your drone into FCC mode to get higher power and more range.  CE mode is ridiculously restrictive.

In hawaii we can not fly very far either, its nice to see it happens to others too.. We assume somehow its about location

Please put your phone in airplane made and make sure Bluetooth and WiFi are turned off. Phone WiFi and Bluetooth  right next to the controller ruins the signal. Turning these interferences off will dramatically improve range and video feed. I've flown several Airs and each single one is amazing and does AT LEAST 1000 meters without problems. 4G antennas should be avoided since they send out extremely powerful signals. And so far all my customers who complained about this problem were happy after this quick and easy (logical....) Fix. If your Air doesn't so 1000+ meters range after this fix you should return it to DJI.

In contrast to some forum warriors here: DJI actually takes responsibility for faulty drones and replaces them more often them not, if proven. Sure there are some cases but please remember that they have millions of customers and some people are simply unreasonable. In my opinion they have dramatically improved their service in recent years and with sufficient proof they oblige. You would not believe how many people crash their drone due to their own doing and them take to the internet if they don't get a new one.

Worked well for me, solved the problem

I have similar experiences in the UK using a CE model. It is my first DJI drone. If I'm out in the sticks I generally get image break-up at 300 mtrs. By 350 mtrs it is so bad as to be uncontrollable. I'm pretty certain that the wifi is communicating and the drone is operating correctly - it's just the video feed that's compromised - though alas, I rely on the feed to pilot the drone.

I am an engineer, both software and hardware and whilst I have no specialisation in drones, I do wonder why they placed the antenna where they did. For a start they are located in the front 'feet'. Drones, most of the time - at least for my style of flying - are nearly always pointed directly away from me - this means that the antenna are pointed the wrong way. The other issue is their location right next to the motors. Motors normally generate a lot of RF noise - so this always seemed like a weird decision to me - but like I said, I'm not a drone engineer, so perhaps they have their reasons.

It is this range issue that is my only real disappointment with the drone. I'd be happy with 750 mtrs or so - provided it was a solid connection - but I really don't see how this can be achieved. I'm at the latest firmware version, but haven't seen any improvements. Yet, there are many videos of people flying these out to 2km or more - which based on what I see, seems very hard to believe. The only other explanation is that I somehow got a lemon.

Hello guys,

To start,I have no DJI care or refresh plan on my Mavic Air 2.

Few days ago,I was flying my drone into a rocky cave ,few meters away from me, less that 10meters ,and my remote control show me "Sensors blocked" "GPS signal lost" "No signal transmission"

My drone was inside a rocky cave few meters down my original take-off position and I was flying negative altitude above water.

Suddenly my drone moved next to the rocks and I coudnt control it anymore for RTH or any control from the remote control.

The drone crashed by itself in the cave in Tripod mode and It sank and impossible for me to go into the cave.

I have the log/datas who shows exactly everything I described above.

Can I claim back from DJI a clear Software problem and have a new Mavic Air 2?

Many thanks to let me know.

All the best.
