Probably the strongest winds I have flown in today.....  the mavic air flew like it was impervious to wind  

But the photo looks nice! ;)

The weather closed in far too quick today, just before it rained.

So we drove to the coast and the weather followed us lol

And the weather still sucks.....maybe tomorrow lol

So today with the weather a little better I had the chance to go out for a nice relaxing flight....errrrmm NO I got that wrong, go figure some clown forgot to change 'Hover' to 'RTH' from last flight (the only thing I didn't check)....... launch aircraft, fly about for some time, numerous battery changes and eventually decided to take it out at distance, aircraft disconnected right above river ahhhh ok it will come home, 1 minute passes nothing, 2 minutes passes nothing, 3 minutes passes nothing, no comforting beep from controller or RTH on Ipad, much swearing, running up the road, (a long road) still swearing, aircraft eventually connects relax chill, land aircraft wipe sweat from brow, walk/stumble back to car pack up go home to recharge batteries and nerves and have a coffee.... going out again soon lol

Wow - that is one of the first things I check in my pre flight set up mate. Thank God you realised and started heading towards the drones position or that would have auto landed in the drink at 10%! Great shots too!

I generally have a set pre flight check list too and for whatever reason I omitted to check 'RTH' was the required preference, I checked and changed height and it didn't even dawn on me I had changed it to 'hover' when I was playing with trees and branches last time out.  When it sat there winking at me from a great distance I guessed what I had done and took to my heels to re-establish contact with the AC and bring it back to me. Thankfully a happy ending. I went out again after recharging this afternoon and no issues with any AC..... Tomorrow the MP is getting a test as soon as it arrives lol

Ireland is without doubt awash with stunning locations from top to bottom, it is a fabulous location.

These things happen - at the end of my second flight on Sunday I was flying my MPP back to me in preparation to land manually and noticed a dog walker had entered the field. I had turned off OA for the drone to fight the wind better and in the freezing weather my reactions were slower. I kept the pitch stick forward and as I looked back up at the drone it was heading towards a massive tree branch - the drone flew into the branch as I released the sticks and for the life of me it didn’t touch the tree at all - it must have been a CM from a massive collision. The closest I have ever got to crashing a drone! Miracles do happen!

Daring one but it was Christmas Day last year so nobody around and thought I would take off from my sister in laws back garden and check out the beach nearby - without walking of course

one reason i bought the mavic was to be able to go exploring - still looking forward to doing that - till now been happy to concentrate on flying knowlage and skills.

The MP will be taking it's maiden flight as soon as we have no rain and light or no wind (Saturday fingers crossed) Everything has been set up ready to go, three more batteries arriving tomorrow so I should have enough flight time for a good test.

I'd say - 4 MP batteries will give you a good 1 hour, 30 minutes flight time mate. Don't forget to update all FW on the batteries via the app.

I already had 4 so 7 will keep me going lol

I also ordered a new mavmount, car charger, Sunshade, and those silent suckers to reduce noise, all but the mavmount arrives today. With 65mph gusts I don't think I will be getting it in the air today

7 batteries LOL That is a lot of flight time mate - 3 is enough for me

lol yeah perhaps we are guilty on overkill on batteries, but we can be miles away from a charging point, so figured we would arrive ready to go with more batteries than you can shake a big stick at.  Same with every drone..... expensive but necessary when 1 or 2 hundred miles away from home.

The more batteries the better when out on road trips - good luck on your first flights mate
