Let me start by saying that I have 6 DJI Drones
1 Phantom 4  Pro
1 Phantom 4
2 Phantom 3 Pro
1 Phantom 3 Advanced
1 Phantom 2

I am not a novice.
I noticed that one of my DJI Remote Control units was failing to hold a charge. I e-mailed DJI to purchase a new GL300C, and was told that because of the Phantom 4 life cycle, that they could not help. My phantom 4 is just over 2 years old. If their life cycle turns around that quickly, beware of what you buy. You may find that your unit is obsolete in a short amount of time. I understand that a product can not go on forever, but this seems extreme.

Yup, pretty absurd. The only saving grace for DJI is that their competition is pretty much non-existent. I have no qualms jumping ships to Yuneec or Autel if they can prove to be more helpful than DJI.
That aside, have you looked on AliExpress or eBay if any of the Chinese factories are selling the battery itself? If so, it's just a few screws away from being replaced.

Why don't you just get a new battery to fix your controller rather than trying to buy a new controller?

They might not sell a new device, but I would think they would repair it.

I have put in another thread about my concerns over the apparent short life span of DJI drones, as I am really worried about this myself.  An investment in drones and other kit of around $6000 which only has a lifetime of two years or so has got to concern everyone on this forum, perhaps even DJI itself. Eventually the public money tree will wither because we all cannot invest thousands of dollars a year effectively in buying new kit because our 'old' kit cannot or will not be repaired. Can DJI come out and tell us what sort of lifespan they aim to support our drones for. I for one would believe that having batteries and spares for five years is not unreasonable., essentially meaning that our drones would cost us around $1 a day to run. That does not of course include the price of persuading the other half that it would be an essential purchase!

And if you buy some time after the introduction, your time is even less...

It's their way to keep the $$$ coming in.  Keep introducing something new and out with old.

If I could find an equal competitor, I would switch, just for the principle. If one reads through the on-line forums they will find that DJI after sales support is not great. I just wanted for warn perspective buyers that your expensive investment, may not last as long as you think is should.

I'm surprised DJI refused to repair the controller, perhaps one of the moderators might comment and clear things up. Also I believe you can now use the P4 Pro controller with the P4 through one of the settings in DJI Go 4.

Yes.  It would be nice to hear form one of the moderators on this.

I found original replacement battery on TAOBAO plattform.  About 20 euro
