Hi, I have been flying the mavic air non stop since it arrived.
Why can it only record 4:50 at a time before stopping and creating a new file? Thanks
Alex

Could be a whole bunch of things.  First, did you read the manual?  Often times, the problem is due to not setting something that the manual said was needed.  Second, you never mentioned the size of your SD card, nor whether you had formatted it.  Finally, have you gone through all your settings and understood what each one meant?

Could possibly be to keep each file to 2GB.

Yep, I understand it all I think. Using a 64GB San Disk Extreme Pro so it should be all good.
All formatted correctly.

Anything that springs to mind StanfordWebbie?

Your 4:50 must be 4K video then. The file splitting is normal, there is a seize limit. It is explained somewhere, but don't recall right now where.

Maybe the card is formatted in fat not exfat?
Fat only allows a max file size of 2gb while exfat allows larger files.

It was formatted in FAT so I will try Exfat and report back. Thanks

Yup, FAT formatting will always clip the file (does the same thing on my Nikon DSLR although it will support a 7 minute 4K video before clipping) you can just line up your clips in post edit and they will be seamless when you export them.

Although exFat supports files larger than 4GB DJI splits them always to around 4GB chunks to save them in case of malfunction etc. This is how they explained it in some thread here.
It is not a problem to join the files in post-processing.

But there is about 1 second between the 2 files

The maximum file size of FAT32 is 4GB. Hence, a file that is larger than or equal to 4GB will be divided, otherwise, the file may be lost or abnormal and cannot be read.
Although exFAT allows a larger file size, the larger file may be damaged due to abnormal power-off and SD card removal, or even cannot be recovered. So the storage of the camera is 4GB regardless of the file systems. So it is normal the video will be split if it reaches 4GB.
