What do you think about this new product DJI Copilot? Would it work with RAW and ProRes files ?
Forget about the price, it seems to be really good for being real.

Lacie don't state any specs for transfer speeds, so i wouldn't be surprised if its painfully slow for big data uses like backing up 500GB ssd cards.

Hi, here some unofficial specs.....

If the speed indicated in the picture is correct, and my calculation is correct too, a  SSD card of 480 GB  could be copied in to DJI Copilot in 21 minutes.

480 GB = 491'520 MB        491'520 : 387(MB/s) = 1'270 seconds       1'270 : 60 =  21.15 minutes

I am not an expert, but if there are no errors in my calculation, I think the transfer time is not exceptional but is acceptable, .... we will see.
Please let me know if I am wrong.

Mine is not handling the Inspire 2 CineSSD Station with the 480GB SSD. I've reported it to Lacie and they are working on it.

They don't know what the issue is. When I look in the logs the unit finds the CineSSD Station and the drive, it says it mounts it also. The App though says it can't find the drive, it just keeps on searching until it gives up. I've done several tests for them and sent all logs, hopefully it is only a firmware bug that can be fixed.

Oh ok, but can you manually copy the files over using the drive? Or do you need the app for that? Some guy on Facebook reckons they got a PDF document with the procedure from LaCie but didn’t elaborate any further

It looks like DJI has partnered with some hard drive manufactures to make some storage solutions made to their specifications
I have the one made for the USA available from Best Buy:
Seagate - DJI Fly Drive 2TB External USB Type-C Portable Hard Drive - Gray

This is a great portable storage drive IMO. The drive has the micro SD slot for quick transfers in the field. Not really needed if you have a ton of micro SD cards, but it is really nice to use while away from your home base computer.

This drive is on sale right now for $90. Yes, you need to use your laptop for the drive to work in the field. It does not have the same functionality as the LaCie drive you show, but the same idea. You can download any files RAW or others to the device. No, cannot download your DJI SSD will not work with this drive

Hi mixchief, sorry for the late response, this hard drive was released by the partner Lacie and it is not for sale in DJI online store, if there is any question about that, it is recommended to contact Lacie customer support for more details, thank you for your attention.

Mine doesn’t handle the Inspire 2 CineSSD. Anyone heard of support coming to the Copilot for this? It’s a deal breaker if it can’t transfer Inspire 2 footage

I've been in contact with support, as I wrote earlier in this thread. Lacie released a new firmware and app versions the other day. Firmware version: V1.0.34.0.

I flashed it and it did nothing to fix Inspire 2 CineSSD...

I've (again, and again), asked support about if the issue will be able to be fixed with a firmware/software update, or if it is a hardware issue on the CoPilot. I've also asked them to inform us CoPilot buyers about a return policy.

Hi, I can confirm, with the last update 1.0.34.1, we can copy now the files to the LaCie DJI Copilot from the Cinessd Station, at the speed of 151 MB/Sec (at least for me) by the usb port.

Roughly yes.... at least for the math...

For example, shooting in Apple ProRes RAW at 5760x3240 @ 30 fps it needs about 35 - 40 min to fill the 480 GB CineSSD card, so, always for the math, to transfer the whole  480 GB SSDcard into the Dji Copilot it takes about 1.45 the time.

Does anyone know if/when Copilot BOSS App will support CR3 RAW files from Canon EOS R? It makes for a difficult workflow when the app doesn't recognise CR3 files and won't share them to Lightroom CC.

i had the same problem when starting the copy by using the app on the phone - when I start the copy just by using the button on the drive it is way faster - haven´t figured out why .... but that´s how I do it now
