There's no "best" tablet for the Mavic Pro but people having been reporting stability with the Ipad Mini 4. What kind of tablet/phone do you have?

My MP works really well with the latest IPad Mini 4, you will need a mount for it though. Or you can go with one of the Crystal Sky Monitors. Many choices of Phones as well. I prefer the Mini for screen size, & the CS for brightness.

Consider buying a new iPad Mini 4 myself.
May I ask if you're using a separate holder for the iPad, or if you just squeeze it into the RC phone holder at the corners?

Should of said, I only use it on my P4P as a dedicated device. Use the iPhone 7+ on my MPP. The Mini 4 just about fits in the MP RC though but I find it too big and disproportionate and like to keep things minimal and portable as possible when flying the Mavic.

If you get an iPad MINI 4 with cellular you will have GPS for maps, and tracking works, and updating home position while moving works. You SHOULD NOT put it on a phone plan if you are dedicating it to your drones.  More $$$ but you get more functionality.

Why not use cell on mini4, does it interfere with the  drone signal?

I have the 12 inch Samsung TabPro S that runs Windows 10 and it's a Super Amoled display so very bright. I use my Samsung S7 that has similar Amoled, anybody think sideloading Android to my TabPro S and running DJI GO 4 is a good idea or is it too overkill?

No mount necessary for iPad Mini2 or 4. I have both and they both fit the controller perfect. Fits in the Fly More combo bag too...

Ipad Pro works just fine. You would need a holder for that.

Basically, you don't have to have the internet connection while flying, but note that you need the internet to log in, activate the drone, update the firmware and some functions that need the internet. For the recommended device, you can refer to the compatibility device list. Sometimes we would recommend using the mobile device on our test list because engineers had tested to run DJI GO/DJI GO 4 on that mobile devices and they performed fine. devide support list.png

Ipad pro 10.5 inch is very good.
I think the ipad mini 4 will eventually will get bad image transmission after dji updates fw and the go app. This also happened with my phantom 4 pro. Cannot use ipad mini 4 anymore properly. This ipad 4 mini has the a8 chip which is older. The ipad pro 10.5 inch has a10 and iphone x has believe already a11 much faster chips . And dji developes their fw and app so that old devices started to get issues. Anyway you have to try it yourself

You do not want to receive a cell call when flying. IMO you want this iPad dedicated to your flying controller.

iPad mini 4 works great and fits the controller, just need a longer lightening lead and connect to USB
Get one with cellular for GPS and mapping
Don’t need sim - just use your phone as a wifi point or connect to hot spot
Cheers

Huawei MediaPad X2 (Honor X2) - The Best Tablet for Mavic Pro (Platinum).

I myself personally, with my own hands, tried 8 devices (+ I changed firmware on them, did various modifications, etc., etc.):

1. Apple iPad Mini-4 64Gb LTE
2. Apple iPad Air-2 64Gb LTE
3. Huawei MediaPad M3 8.4 "
4. Huawei MediaPad X2 7 "(GEM-701L, 3Gb / 32Gb)
5. HTC Nexus 9
6. SONY Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact LTE
7. Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 32GB LTE
8. Samsung GALAXY Tab S2 32GB LTE (SM-T719)

In the end, I sold everything, but left for myself Huawei MediaPad X2, because IMHO - it was the best tablet for Mavic Pro (Platinum) for the total amount of various factors:

1. Big enough Display 7", (74% usage area), with the TRUE resolution: 1920x1200
2. Only MediaPad x2 (from all of 6.4"+) fit into console without additional mounts
3. 3Gb + 32Gb + TF Card (up to 128Gb)
4. Great battery: 5000mAh, (works perfectly in the cold weather, less than -15C)
5. Accurate and VERY fast GPS + Glonass + A-GPS
6. LTE-20 / Wi-Fi 5GHz
7. FUNNY price!  Right now Used or Refurbished Huawei X2 costs from $120

With FirmWare - KangVIP111, Android 5.1.1, Root:

8. The brightness more than 450cd/m2, (no problems with auto-brightness) does not blind in the sun!
9. Antutu = 60,000+
10. No problem with realtime writes cached video
11. There are no lags, no artifacts on the video, don't lose connection
12. Double-tap on the screen => Unlock:  a trifle, but very convenient!
12. Scale DPI-output for any application (DJI GO 4)

PS: as a reserve, I did not sell iPad Mini 4... just because this device is so "classy" ! :-)

I use a dedicated Mini 4 128gb with wifi only. Thought the extra money for cellular wasn't worth it at the time.
If I had to do it again I would get the Mini 4 with wifi and cellular. Just for the GPS and the ability to see a Map. Right now I save the map location in the cache before I fly and it works to a point.

With regard to the "If you get an iPad MINI 4 with cellular you will have GPS for maps, and tracking works, and updating home position while moving works. You SHOULD NOT put it on a phone plan if you are dedicating it to your drones." - I would really like to have access to the GPS and maps, but question how you get both without being on 'someones' cellular plan? Getting ready to purchase a Mini 4 for my new MPP.... so thanks!!
