Hey everyone,

I flown my Air today in an extreme cold temperatures, -10 degrees celsius (14 F) and I have to say - I'm impressed with the stability and the way it coped with the cold.
The video that shows the footage of that day is below:



This has been the coldest day i've ever flown in, but it definitely won't be the list time I give this a try.

What's the coldest temperature you've ever flown in?

Perhaps, deep down,  he knows he made a mistake with the Mavic,  and is wishing he had a Spark?

Wow. That's beautiful! Please be careful if you fly your drone during cold weather. I would recommend you warm up the battery before flight.

The spark does just as well in even colder temps. I live in northern Alberta and got the spark Black Friday.thats the average temp I habe been flying around here. Only once did I get a cold battery warning.

I believe that's some kind of bug, I remember picking the AIR section, so I wonder why that has happened?

Thanks! Not to worry, I've flown multiple times in cold weather, all my batteries were pre-heated before using. But I have to admit, first time flying in -10! Still great performance though!

In theory you can fly longer at those temperature if you pre-heat your battery.
For spark, DJI claims 16 minutes autonomy at 25 km/h, 1013 hPa, 20°C, the density of the air is 1,2 kg/m^3.
At -10°C, if you are at sea level (1013 hPa), the air density is up to 1,34 kg/m^3 (+ 12%) and you could earn 1min30 in autonomy.

Hmmm. And they say that low temperature could be the case of blurriness in right part of the screen (for me). Still gotta wait when it gets warmer. I'he flown at ~-5-10ºC.

no issues whatsoever, as long as it doesn't snow heavily it's all good!

Great video and demo.  I think the secret to cold westher flying is keeping your batteries in your pocket till you get ready to fly.

Absolutely, that's the way to use them without having "battery too cold" warnings!

I know this is a Mavic post but fun fact my first time ever flying my spark was here in Canada in -22 Celsius...

It's normal here in Canada. The temps with windchill can get around -28 in winter of course. The temperature is much much better right now as it sits between -1 to 3. Beautiful days, don't even have to wear gloves. That day I did a lot of research and found out if I just prewarm the batteries and the gimbal of the AC I should be fine. And as soon as I took off I hovered for about 40 seconds to let the AC warm up. Fun fact that the battery was actually going up in temperature in flight and then it was stable at +25 C which was surprising.

How long did the batteries hold up? Had the cold weather a huge effect on the flight time?

Not a huge effect, but it was noticeable. The flight time decreased to about 14-15 minutes.
