DJI Mavic Air "Winter Flight" My brand-new DJI Mavic Air just arrived! Out of the box and into the woods. This was my first flight ever and shooting with a drone. No ND's. No VFX were used. All shots are done in camera. Additional footage were shot on iPhone 7 Plus in and the DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbal with FilmicPro. The weather conditions were freezing cold @ minus 5-6 degrees Celsius and changed from foggy to snow and sunny. The battery life was limited by the cold to 10-15 minutes so I only had almost 45 minutes to get the footage together. Pretty hard being a copter pilot and aerial DP for the first time. I also couldn't use any ND filters, what would be good for snowy landscapes and continuous changing light situations that I had on the shooting day. I had to use a lot high shutter what works out pretty well. DJI don't have ND's in stock right now and third party equipment is also not available because the Mavic Air is so new on the market. I am pretty happy with my first drone ever and also with the result. The footage works perfectly in post production! The video was shot in FullHD, 2K and 3K in 24p. It's was the first time that I used Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve 14 for editing what was kind of a challenge to me as Avid editor. Lucky I found a fantastic music track that fits perfect on the shots. The song is called "Winter" by Philip G Anderson. Lance,
You have a tremendous eye! Great composition, and really have a knack for editing. I am impressed with this video. Keep them coming. Wow if this is your first production with the mavic air than we are all in for a treat with your next videos.

Thank you for your compliments. Very kind of you.
2nd shooting is planned in April. It will happened in the Bavarian Alps! Just doing research. I will try to shot a real story / documentary. I will let you know, when it's done!
Thanks. The location were found by accident. Actually it's very hard to find a place in Germany what isn't a nature reserve. This lakes are a very small strip surrounded by a huge nature reserve. I was very lucky to find it.
Very nice video, Lance, I like it so much. But a warm prompt, the recommended flying temperature range is 0°C - 40°C. Thank you so much for your support.

Thank you for the hint. I couldn't resist to to try out my first drone ever. I waited more than a week to make my first flight before I run crazy because I want to use it finally. I know it's kind a risky to use the equipment within minus degrees. Luckily it's getting warmer right now so my next try out will happened soon.
Sure that's your first ever flight? That was just exceptionally well done and edited. Superb music selection, great and smooth panning and it really does seem you have a great eye for capturing those shots. Really, really well done! Great job.
kick ass! loved it... i suspect you have experience in video editing, otherwise it's hard to believe that this is your first one. like it very much, mind to share where you shot this? as stated, it's hard here finding a decent place.
LG Teddy
