A youtube video on a mavic pro doing waypoint mission on 20-25mph winds, here's why you shouldn't use litchi on a windy day. 20+ mph is pretty regular especially at high altitude.
The mavic pro was limited to 33 mph via litchi waypoint max speed setting.
And gps mode limits speed to 22 mph.
On the mission which uses gps mode only
With tailwind it did 33mph
(limited by app)
With headwind it did -1 to 1 mph
(wind speed was matching gps speed)
The pilot luckily had connection still so he was able to cancel the mission and went sports mode which changes to 40mph top speed.
He did 18-20 mph with sports mode.
40mph minus 22 to 20mph (winds)=
18-20 mph (speed going back)
On a long range mission which may disconnect radio signal, if the wind is 20 mph or over the drone will be either too slow, not moving or even drifting away so the mavic will not come back because it is limited to 22mph on gps mode. |
