A close up of the dam here at Keokuk, Iowa. Very calm day here today, and was able to shoot some footage of water flowing thru the gates. Probably a view most people don't get to see. Hope you find it interesting. Shot this with my Phantom 3 Advanced.

This is the largest hydro-electric dam on the Mississippi River. The river is over 1 1/2 miles wide here.

Yeah, I had to be very careful! Actually, a couple of them I didn't see until I viewed the footage. I have flown here a number of times, and normally stay up high, but couldn't resist the temptation to get up close. Next time I'll probably stay a little closer to the surface to avoid any problems. I was I think around 50' above the surface approaching the dam.

One issue - The FAA used to have a serious problem with video shot from a UAS posted on youtube. Had something to do with Youtube inserting ads in the stream, thus potentially providing you with income from the video. The FAA thinks (or used to) this would require you to have a commercial airman's certificate or a waiver of some kind.
Anyone have new or more recent info?
