AOPA has published interesting article on UAS maintenance issues, "Guessing When Your Drone Will Die".  Commercial UAS owners are more systematically tracking maintenance data and trends. It talks about single points of failure.  Good to be aware of and help preventive maintenance.

I read it and thought it was a load of bunk to scare the punters into paying subscriptions to the service he's pushing.
His scary numbers aren't anywhere close to reality.

Interesting article!
However - this service seems to not take batteries into account. Maybe I'm wrong.

I keep a close look at batteries and cell deviation at Airdata.
I don't know how reliable that information is but at least gives me comfort when I don't see issues ;-)

I also read that and the guy is pushing out crap. He states few motors last beyond 200 hours and most are likely to fail at between 20 and 50 hours. For anyone who knows anything about motor design, this is completely untrue. The brushless electric motor is one of the most reliable motors ever created. Provided it is not abused, it should last for a very long time, way beyond 200 hours, even longer if you take the trouble to lubricate the support bearings.

Grow up Roger

I am not allowed to speak with anyone under 12

That's an interesting confession, but I'm not really surprised.
