TBH, those look like garbage.  I'd rather go branded DJI.  That just MHO

In particular the car charger looks very low end quality.

Reading between the lines, it looks like each cell requires a 12v supply at 3A to charge. This bodeS well for a future power bank charging adapter in the future.

I have a Mavic pro charger made by the same company, works perfectly.

Charger is just providing power, nothing else... The rest is handled by the battery. I do not see any issue with it...

Yep, exactly. The output per battery lead is 13.2V 2.1A. Critical will be 13.2V output, the A can be less then 2A, I guess. So it will be possible to charge a battery from QC3 with a little bit step-up voltage. QC3 is 12V, so to get to 13.2V is not a bit issue. So hopefully power-on-the-go for hiking trips with a powerbank will be possible in the future.

It doesn't look OK to say "garbage" about something just from the photo. You do not see any internals of that charger, so how you can say it is garbage? There is just a cover and cable leads with connectors on the photo? How do you know it is garbage? Just because it is not DJI branded? DJI branded can be crap as well, maybe even from the same China factory...

Charging just like Spark from powerbank will be great, but I am afraid there is no support internally in Air for charging. The circuit is most likely not capable of charging at all from the photos I have seen from inside the drone.

What I hope for is step-up voltage regulator which will connect to the powerbank and directly to the battery outside of the drone. This was available for Spark, I got it, it will working but the was getting too hot during charging. But technically it is possible for sure.

Yes, I asked about this in another thread and in fact, an external charger block with a USB-C <-> Battery Bridge would be the best bet.
The cost would be lower for the drone, since the charger block is an external circuit
There is some resilience in having an external separate circuit outside the drone,
You can fly and charge at the same time
Keep the battery in a lipo safe bag, in case the worst happened
Only those that want this functionality will purchase this charging block for use with a USB-C pack.

Just ordered one from amazon. I’ll let you guys know what’s up when it gets here.

For that price, i'd give the car charger a go. Got the Fly More combo with my Mavic Air, so already have a battery hub.

I used to be a product buyer for an online retailer, specialising in electronics. On a trip to China, i found out about how a lot of name brand manufacturing works (not *all* name brand manufacturing, mind). Say you have a well-known branded electronic product, called Product X; the factory gets an order for 5000 units from the brand owner. They make 5500 units; 5000 to fill the order, and another 500 to cover warranties. As they already have the production line set up, they pull out the tooling that puts the Product X logo on it, and run another 2000 units, which they then sell as a no-name unbranded product for much less than the branded one.

So in many instances, you're essentially getting the same product, just without the branding or after-sales/warranty support. So i don't think it's fair to write off a product without trying it first, or at least until a few reviews are in. Sweet as to say "It looks rubbish" though - you're allowed to have an opinion based on how the product looks.

I will be the first one to admit that I have never tried a car charger for any of my drones - so I ask this question out of complete ignorance (I have only had car chargers for my phone, thus my basis for asking this question).  

For a car charger to work, don't you have to have your ignition "on" in order for it to charge?  I mean, it's not like I can plug the batteries into the car charger - go have lunch somewhere - and come back to a fully charged battery.  I guess if I were driving a couple of hours from point "A" to point "B" - I could understand it (maybe camping if its the only option).  But for a day trip - not sure I have ever understood how this would be a good option over something like a battery power bank.  

Again, I ask because I have no knowledge on the subject other than car chargers for cell phones.  For those that have user car chargers for your drones - how do you use them?

Correct hence the batteries are smart battery with internal power management circuitry to charge the batteries properly, period :p
