The platinum is a great drone and has marginal improvements over the original MP that made the extra £100 worth it. That said, the current £300 difference is definitely not.

I agree as the new ESC's, slightly longer flight times and low noise props don't warrant the extra. Buy some low noise props for the MP and all is good. Unless you just have to have one that is.

For sure - I'm sure we'll see a price drop on the Platinum later this year, especially if an MP2 is released.
I would definitely buy the old model and a couple of sets of new props. The 2-3 minute more flight time the newer models might have, I thought is not worth the $ 280.
I fly a Dec 2017 Mavic Pro with the quiet props, after flying with someone with the platinum we both had around the same flying time and sound perception with quiet props was virtually the same. I would say no, I'm glad I went for the Pro and extra batteries. Its not worth the extra £££ for what you get.
The rate DJI are turning around new models means each new iteration now has a 'new' status of about a year - so its a 'this year's model' versus last year's model. Wait long enough and you can buy the best drone in the world - until next year's model comes out ... I am wondering though what the shelve lives of these drones are with regular use. The arms on the Mavic are rated at 5000 actions (opening and closing) which would equate to about 10 years of use at 2 flights a day for 70% of the year (255 flying days). That said the motors presumably would go before then(?).
Here in Canada the difference in price is about $200. It has been shown in many comparison videos that the MPP is quieter than the MP, and the MPP is also quieter that the MP is with the low noise props mounted. With the MPP only getting 2 or 3 minutes more flight time that is probably not a big plus factor for many. For me I felt the extra $200 was worth going with the MPP.
In Greece the difference in price is about 100€. three minutes can save your drone in a difficult time. fewer engine speeds, so less friction. With more than 50 hours of flying, there's one thing to say, the platinum is worth of its money!
