Last night I was buzzing about the hood at about 50 meters. I was over a parking lot flying directly into a spectacular sunset and my drone stops, hesitates, and a notice flashes on the "screen obstacle avoidence activated" with the loud beeping which made me jump. I thoght it must have been a bird but no? My question is, is it possible the sunset activated the obstacle avoidence? There was nothing in front and I had done a loup of about 1 km with no problems all software is up to date. Just the bright sun glaring into the lens.

I get the same thing when flying into the bright sun.  Slip it into sport mode and it isn't a problem. Yes it is possible that the sun activated obstacle avoidence.

Yes the sunlight will trigger the obstacle avoidance  if you do plan on flying toward the sunlight  disable the obstacle avoidance

Yes it should be quite safe to disable obstacle avoidance in that scenario - the battery will be exhausted long before you strike THAT obstacle
