Seems I can't get the firmware update loaded on the P3. No problem in updating the controller. I've followed the instructions completely. I've installed the bin file on the card, inserted card into gimbal, and powered up the P3 with the controller off. It beeps and lights flash but I never get the completed beeps even after one hour! I've tried three times as you can see from the log. I've downloaded again and extracted the bin file. Thanks for your assistance.

It would be better if the txt log file gave a reason (or a code) to advise why it failed.  Probably clutching at straws, but can you try another SD card at all in case it's corrupted?

Download the firmware again.  Put it in the root directory and turn on your bird with the card in place.  Sometimes bin files get corrupt during download.  Also remove your sd card from the computer after you eject it through the windows software.   Lower right USB disconnect dialog

Just put a blank card in your computer and put it on the card it worked like that for me.

Do you need to ONLY put the P3X_FW_V01.01.0006.bin on the flash drive ..

I created a quick youtube video..sorry I accidentally uploaded in standard definition.

All very good advice but not working, yet. I downloaded it two more times and put it on two more cards and same results. I'm going to pick up a new card tomorrow and try it again. The light on the gimbal goes green for a few seconds then red. Once in a while it will go green again but only for a few seconds.

Nice video. My controller updated as yours did in the video with the constant beeps until it completed. The P3 only has the initial 4 beeps. It's never constant like in the video or like my controller update.

Set hidden folder visible in your computer. Open the file MISC\LOG\WM610_FW_LOG_AB.txt, post the content.

Can someone help please, I'm on my Mac and it won't allow me to drag and drop any files on to the ad card. I can drag the files but the sd card won't allow it? Please help.... Also is it only the bin file that needs dropping?

The instructions state that only FAT or exFAT formatted cards are supported. I don't know if that is relevant to the OP?

My craft did the 4 beeps for 10 mins and now its just a constant almost grinding like noise? Help pls  

The remote must be turned off when updating the Phantom itself!

This is what I did:
1 Format the SD card
2 Download the firmware
3 Extract the files from the .zip file
4 Delete the .zip file
5 Follow directions from DJI

I did the reboot by turning it off and powering it back up without the SD card and then powered down. Is that the correct reboot procedure? Then I put the card in and powered it up again to update it. I'll work on it again this evening.

I didn't format the card. That's the only step I didn't do. The rest of your steps I followed exactly. I'll format the card and do it again when I get in this evening.

There is a procedure to reset?

I formatted a new card to FAT. Downloaded the firmware again. copied to card, unzipped, deleted the zip file, inserted intp P3, turned on and same thing. No update.

New message in text file.

The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the aircraft.

Any thoughts? Did it upgrade?

GregL....I did this.  Im on a Mac.  Downloaded and dragged to desktop.  Formatted SD card.  Dragged only the .bin file to my SD card.  Put card in P3 and it took off with upgrade. Lights flash.  All worked out fine.  Took about 15 minutes.  It did a d-d-d-d like they said for upgrade time....then did a constant d......d-d.  Took card out and put back in Macbook and got upgrade success.

So I assumed it updated. I started it up and all is perfect. Pilot App states "latest software". I made a few short flights that went great. Do you think everything is correct now? Thanks.

Usually this massage means that your upgrade is successful.
You can refer to the upgrade log file, focus on this part:



Is the 15/00 module upgrade succcess now?

To me it all seems ok, flies, the only problem when I try to stream YouTube, tells me that the FW is old, although I displays the version 1.1.6 (I have a p3 advanced)

That looked exactly like my procedure except I never heard any beeps. The controller beeped during the update process.

From what I read I think you successfully updated the firmware, even though you didn't hear the D---D-D otherwise you wouldn't be able to connect to the camera from your phone.

Have fun flying! I just went out for my first flight and is was so much nicer now everything is integrated compared to the Phantom 2 with GoPro.
