Hi Crystalsky users, looking at several posts of defective CS UB and finding myself wanting to buy one I'm rather puzzled on the product overall status thus the poll to get a better understanding on the defective unit ratio.
Thanks for the participation.

I purchased my DJI Crystalsky UB in early DEC 2017 and keep it updated to latest firmware version. Absolutely no screen issues, no overheating, no unexpected shutdowns, no flickering - just amazingly bright, clear video - FINALLY - for the first time in 3+ years of flying DJI Phantom and Inspire aircraft. However, I have not yet flown in temperatures above 85 degrees F.  I routinely fly 3 flights in a row. I use the CS UB with my P3Pro, P4, P4Pro and Inspire 1 aircraft, all of which have had their RCs equipped with the DJI Crystalsky mobile mount.  I had some issues early on with not being able to see the Phantom 4 or Phantom 4 Pro aircraft battery percentage displayed in the DJI Go 4 app camera screen, but these issues were resolved 1-2 months ago with firmware updates for both aircraft.  Total Crystalsky UB device Uptime reported in About Device under Status is 160 hours as of 17MAR2018.

I've just sent my second ultra back for replacement, both occasions the backlight has died before the five hour mark.

If you do buy one just make sure the dealer will take returns.

Thus far it looks like you got 2/3rds of a chance of getting a working CrystalSky.   Or to put it another way, that's a pretty high failure rate.

Some of us have had multiple defective units, so it's more like 50/50.

Hm the voting sample is way too low to judge imho, I expected many more people to participate. It looks like the forums are somewhat slow lately.

I would guess there are less UB users than HB users and that the HB users have had much less problems.  It would be interesting to see the deference.

I know a lot of DJI users who have never seen these forums and don't care. Just sayin---you would have to know how many units are even out there as well.

Yeah I had a flawless HB for four months before selling it and upgrading to the faulty ultras.

My UB died during a flight of my Mavic Pro, was a fair way out and the backlight failed, fortunately my iPhone had the app on and I binned off the CS and flew the Pro back on that. I expected more from such an expensive and dedicated device!
It was a sunny day, for once, and about 6C so not warm at all! Overall it’s a poor device. Good screen till it dies, but I never had app crashes on any iOS device, every single flight with the CS something didn’t work, I bought on credit in the UK, 0%, so they get one go at fixing it, then it’s ‘hello section 74, consumer credit act’ which holds the lender jointly responsible for the quality of the goods here in the UK.

True.  The poll only lets you vote once.

After I got my replacement back, and very Top of Touch-Screen wasn't responding to touch.
The poll needs to let you vote more than once!

Sorry to hear that.

Besides headache of getting it repaired/replaced or refund; there is headache of finding something to use while you wait.

I believe the trigger for my problem was the Amazon Litchi app I was running to test it, the CS UB got super hot after a few minutes, so I quickly shut it down, but when I went to restart it to use DJI Go4 instead it was already terminal with the flickering starting.

If you have a CS UB, I'd be watching out for any temp issues when using Amzon Litchi

Mine failed and I don’t ever use unofficial stuff or apps,  the ambient temp was a mild 18-20ºC and i was in direct sun light, it just died in the blink of an eye, I’m shipping it back today and should receive a brand new replacement by friday or next monday.
The law here in Italy(but I believe itmis the same for other EU countries) forces the seller immediatly replace or refund the item in case of DOA.
I have to say that if it worked properly it would be a real game changer, for the first time ever with an lcd monitor outdoor i was able to see everything  I was recording perfectly even umder direct sunlight, amazing...if it only worked for longer than a few hours.

Mine partially died with a severe screen flicker and uneven backlight, but it came back after it had cooled down.

Don't let the unit get to more than 45c, before cooling it down, mine went to 48c and it started to have screen problems using the Amazon version of Litchi. With the latest 4.2.6 version of DJI Go 4 it only ever gets to 40c and it continues to work well

Just sent back my second crystal sky ultrabright both units went black midflight. I’m hoping this replacement will actually work, but I really don’t think it will. I could sure use some reassurance.

My second unit died in less than an hour, I'm actually thiking about a full refund and then wait for a second generation/re-engineered CS UB.
I cannot start to think how is it possible that DJI let such a major design flaw slip....

DJI seem to have removed the CS UB from sale, it's been out of stock since January.

Suspect it's been discontinued or in the process of being re-engineered

I would go for a full refund as technically your units have been a DOA

Wow.. reading all of this doesn't make me feel any better about my CS UB.

I can't imagine how one would be able to fly their drone back without RTH when the display fails and you can't see orientation of the drone. This is a very serious issue.

Mine is only reliable in colder weather. I start having program terminations and stops responding issues above 70F.

After 5 unit replacements i finally found one that's working as intended even in scorching hot days.
It looks like there was a huge batch of defective items and it has been sorted, I'm happy atm with my CS Ultra.

Yes even tho I admit in the last 9 months I didnt use it much at all because it has been so hard to work with this covid situation.
Last summer i was in the desert and it worked fine with well over 30 celsius.
